The best 5150 variant ever
JustanothergearheadGUY, 06.12.2018
I am happy to report the amplifier is the best amp I have owned so far. I have not seen an amp having so much feature packed into it. All features set into this amp are very much practical. Can't say I am very thankful for the MIDI functions which pairs nicely with my MIDI controller for easy channel switching although unfortunately EQ does not change with it (used a separate EQ pedal to solve it). MSDI function needs a bit of tweaking out of the box but i managed to find a sweet spot in tuning the EQ.

Quality wise, its built like a tank and packs quite a weight for a 120 watts amp. Dont let the Made in China scare you away from buying the amp because it is very much worth it imho.

Sound wise, I go for mainly rock and metal sounds and this amp truly nails all the iconic 5150 sounds and with a proper CLEAN channel. Very chimey, warm and crystal clear clean sounds which rivals my twin reverb. It works pretty well with pedals and no issues there.

Overall I am a very happy Peavey Invective owner.

Peavey Invective
Boerdi, 29.11.2018
First of all: I am very satisfied with the Invective! He will replace my EVH because its sound to me in the long run to "biting".

The Invective has the heart of a 6505 with more "bells and whistles" and the Invective may sound a bit "tame".

The feature list of the Invective is even longer and I was particularly attracted by the master controller. The postgain controller can thus be broken wide without the pear being blown away. Turning on the postgain mainly causes the sound to change significantly. Depending on gusto more or less "fizzy" or "bulbous" and "round".

The clean channel is definitely much better than the normal 6505 and with the boost you get to crunchy sounds.

The crunch channel then takes over where the clean channel stops. If you turn up Gain the Crunch is a lot more dirty (which I like) compared to the Lead.

Lead channel is as I said almost identical to that of the 6505th Advantage here: built-in boost, one is without pedal immediately where you need the 6505 a TS (or similar). Also smoother / tighter compared to the Crunch. At full gain but also nice and dirty if you're on it.

The Footswitch is a monster! Stable built and everything can be controlled properly. Saving and retrieving presets is also possible, but I'm not the midi expert right now.

The FX Loops I could not test for lack of matching pedals yet. The 9V power supply works without problems.

The invective is a bit more expensive 6505, but the features make up for it. The built-in switchable gates and boosts save a lot of space on the pedalboard and with the two FX loops, many variants are open.
