After listening to hundreds of entries for this year’s Christmas Song Competition, the judges have finally come to a decision. They tell us this was no easy task; the standard this year was very, very high, and the variety and sheer number of excellent Christmas songs that got submitted to us made the decision a very difficult one.
Said one judge:
"We had songs sent to us from all over the world, and in many different languages, reminding us very clearly of the wonderful diversity of cultures and styles that exist, and also reminding us of the universality of music. It was lovely. We heard funny songs, sad songs, rock songs, folk songs... you name it. Oh, and a couple of comedy songs that made us hoot with laughter! They were brilliant! We’d like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who took part - you’ve really helped us get the festive season off to a good start here at Thomann."
The judges spent a long time agonising over their decision - we’d locked them away in a room with a CD player and a set of loudspeakers, and here they debated, discussed, changed their minds, changed their minds back again (!), and generally failed to agree on anything! They apparently managed to stop short of a bun-fight though. And then, after many, many repeat listenings to what they’d narrowed down to the last few, they emerged blinking and bleary-eyed from the listening room, clutching a crumpled piece of paper with so many crossings-out and marks like “9.9/10” on it it was almost impossible to read. But we’ve managed to decipher it, and we can now reveal the winners to you.
So (drum roll please)...!
Coming in at third place, with the song Merry Christmas Thomann, from Portugal we have Andrea Vertessen
Congratulations Andrea! Your prize of a €50 Thomann voucher will be winging its way to you very soon.
And in second place, with the song Christmas at Thomann, would you please put your hands together for our Danish participant Kasper Bjerre
