K
Best power connector available
Kevin6046 23.10.2015
I switched from domestic 4 way power outlet strips in the back of my equipment racks a few years ago, these connectors are very neat and tidy, and offer good strain relief, they can't be kicked out and don't drop out in transit like a euro plug often does, so on my rack I have a single blue input feeding 6 grey power outs, I can turn up at a gig and be powered up in seconds because I only need a single mains cable, all my racks and external, equipment are fitted with powercon , I also attached some grey powercon outlets to some power cables fitted with a domestic Mains plug so the equipment can be used away from the racks.. Please observe the color coding on these items, blue is power in only, grey is power out, where you had a euro plug you use blue, where you are replacing a plug that went in to the ac outlet in the wall you have grey!

The Neutrik Power twist socket is a must. Bought a lot of them for making racks more plug&play and it works like a charm. The pins in the back can be soldered as well as used with standard female spade connectors.

There is no other ....

This chassis Powercon connector is made of plastic but does not have that "cheap" feel. The male counterpart locks in swiftly and never fails. After using it for over 200 times now, I can safely say this will not break down easily. Like it's counterpart, the wires also get assembled with screws. The only downside is that the chassis is not made of metal which means that you "could" overscrew the fixing holes (if you applied enormous amounts of power). On the other hand, being it made of plastic, it is a lot more safe should there ever be a loose wire (which I doubt will ever happen since this component being a chassis part).
