Wie gesagt - meine Banderfahrungen in einer Metal-Band sind gut 20 Jahre her - es hat mich aber wieder gepackt und ich habe zum Spaß und eigenem Ergötzen mit der DAW auf meinem Rechner angefangen zu spielen. Im Laufe des Probierens habe ich auch verschiedene Gitarrensimulationen ausprobiert. (Shreddage, Amplesound, Heavier7String. Von der Orangetree Dracus gibts leider keine Demo).
Letzten Endes habe ich die RealEight gekauft. Möglicherweise sind die anderen Gitarren noch geeigneter um Metal zu spielen - und auch die Sample-Librarys sind umfangreicher (RealEight kommt so um 1GB, die H7S mit ca. 8GB Samples) - aber ausschlaggebend für mich war, dass ich mit der Bedienung der R8 am besten zurecht kam. Auf den ersten Blick scheint die R8 eine ganze Reihe von Spielvarianten (Bendings, Modulation, Slides etc.) mehr - oder zumindest einfacher im Zugriff zu haben.
Mit den Palm Mutes (essentiell für Metal ^_^) bin ich nicht 100% zufrieden - gerade mit High-Gain Amp-Simulationen neigen diese dazu ein bisschen zu "lärmen" - (Shreddage bzw. H7S scheinen das besser zu lösen) aber die R8 bietet auch hier ein großes Spektrum, die Mutes zu kontrollieren - was ich bei den anderen "Gitarren" zumindest so nicht gefunden habe.
Als extra Schmankerl bietet die R8 auch noch einen "Bass"-Modus an, der jetzt ehrlich gesagt nicht so ganz überzeugend klingt. Aber auf Grund der Spielvarianten doch überzeugender als das in der DAW eingebaute Bass-Modul. Sicher werde ich hier zu gegebener Zeit "nachbessern" (zB. den MODO-Bass)
Fazit: für mich derzeit vollkommen ausreichend - mit etwas Einarbeitszeit kommt man schneller zu Ergebnissen, als ein echtes Instrument zu lernen.
