Be sure it is what you want. Not a traditional phaser

Ces Mc, 12.05.2017
First of all, the pedal is good. Now let me explain the title of my review.

I bought this particular pedal with some crave for a simple traditional phaser to use during some parts of songs that require emphasis. I only check alternatives on Thomann website. After a while, I was kind of fed up. I also bought an octaver, and amp and other stuff so I was really saturated. At the end, I just liked the price, the feature that said 5 differen kind of phasers and I added it to my overall order.

Okey. The pedal is nice, the pack is awesome. It has a soft pad protecting it, it includes a guide, a little catalog of other pedals from Mooer etc.

The thing is that it has a strange bank of sounds The phasers are too choppy to my taste. If you like a background phaser "around" your guitar solo or sound, you need to set the speed almost at 0. Above let's say 0.5, it starts to feel kind of too fast. The difference of the kind -or types- of phasers (5) is just the pitch and the power of the signal.

It does a phaser job of course, but unfortunately, I got wrong its main features.

PROs:

Plenty of controls: 1 knob for speed, 1 knob for "kind" of phaser - 5-, One knob for "colour" and one toggle for the kind of wave you want. This about the toggle is really cool, it offers three different waveforms: The traditional "wide U" form which goes up and down deeply and softly. A much shallower "U" form, still wide, that goes up and down also smoother but not as deep as the more "traditional one" and a "Squared tight U" form -if you can imagine that-, that goes up and down deeply, but as it is a squared U, the change from low to high is not smooth, but rather abrupt.

CONs:

Due to the super small size, it doesn't operate with battery.
It doesn't have a volume control. - if it should?
As I mentioned, above speed level of "very-close-to-all-the-way-to-the-left (it has no numbers to grade the level) the wave starts going crazily fast and it is a very choppy feeling.

NEUTRAL:
You can dial a tremolo sound if you dig on it. Kind of easily. If you like tremolo, of course.
The size. I don't like such small pedals, but that's just me. That's why I gave 3/5 to handling.

Overall: It is a little funny pedal. Not really cheap but not expensive neither. It offers an interesting alternative that seriously, I found kinda useless except for the traditional very slow speed wave on the first kind of phaser and the tremolo-ish sound. Chances are that you will pick your favorite kind of phaser - from the 5 choices available and will stick to it almost always. However, the additional 3 or 4 don't hurt.
If you need a traditional phaser, have a proper listen to this one, and compare with others.

Good phaser but probably too many features

Colm, 06.12.2017
I am still on the fence with this pedal. It has some great basic phaser sounds and you can tweek it for taste etc. But it seems that some of the other choices of sounds are a bit too out there for any normal or regular use. Some of the wave patterns seem sort of pointless from a guitarist/bassist point of view IMO. I also would recommend using a separate power supply. I had an issue with some sort of cycle/pulse coming through my speaker every few seconds even when the pedal was off. Once I powered it with a separate power brick or tried it with a battery that went away. This is not the first time I had an issue with a Mooer pedal when powering it off my pedal board power brick. Besides that, its a good little pedal with some decent classic phaser sounds. Not a bad buy for the money.
