A good start!

16.05.2016
I ordered this school, together with my first 12 string western guitar, to have the same instruction. So far, as far as "double-sided" instruments are concerned, I have only been able to gain some experience with a Greek Bouzouki. Since I like their sound very much, I have been interested in a twelve-string guitar as a (quite different) alternative.

The introduction of the book was therefore of great help to me as a newcomer in order to get an overview of the special characteristics of this instrument, especially with regard to alternative moods.

Since the current open-ended major / minor / seventh chords of the 6-string guitar are first transposed and basically only parallel to the 12 string, the user is quickly relieved of the transition to the 12 string. However, I would like to follow the author and I prefer the standard mood in the result. This may change with more routine and playing practice and there are certainly many possibilities to experiment.

The author uses many self-composed teaching examples that are largely rooted in the blues. You get such a good idea and an impression of the possibilities of a 12-string guitar as a solo instrument.

So: Deviating from the rather frequent function of the pop and rock music of the instrument for the creation of "flat" chord accompaniments.

On the basis of my difficulty, the compositions gradually increase in proportion to my feeling, but not in a proportionate manner, but in a manner which protects the interested spectator from too much "frustration." Mr. Flint explains different picking techniques and methods for the right hand, which can be used alternatively. Here, in my opinion, is a very interesting point and the user can try out what is best for him. If blues picking on a 6-string guitar is mastered, the differences, or rather the initially rather unusual feeling, should get stuck in the handle.

Many of the examples can also be played with the exclusive use of the plectrum and sound very interesting, as I think. This would make things easier, when getting used to the plectrum

The book provides a good introduction and foundation in the world of the twelfth guitar. This is not only for "solo picking guitarists", but also for interested rock and blues guitarists, who would like to take a different angle of view, and thus also could get new ideas.

The audio downloads I have not tried for time reasons.

Anyone who is willing to open up a "new world", and bring enough time and rest, will certainly not be disappointed by this school. However, a certain diligence and regular practice (as almost always ...) is, in my opinion, indispensable in order to get used to the "12-string feeling" and to achieve a liquid and routine, corresponding to the 6-page Western guitar.

Earthing 12-Sring school

09.04.2016
Hardly anyone will start with a 12 string guitar. For this reason you should be able to use the open chords in a certain way. If the lessons are concentrated (but not crammed) in sequence, you will be rewarded relatively quickly with nice little pieces in country blues style. The later presented movable chords and some rolls enrich the game not only on the twelfth guitar. Needless to say, thomann author Tommy Flint recommends the game MIT Thumbnail and WITHOUT fingerpicks. Without experience with a thumbsup brakes the first time out. However, I formulate this positively: it is a ground, because one goes through the exercises carefully and thus achieves success. The download of the useful sound examples works by the way problem-free. Thomann
Conclusion: A very useful introduction to 12-string fingerpicking with a focus on country blues.
