Nice for those organic plucky sounds
The E 23.04.2021
The Optomix is a very nice sounding low pass gate with a beautiful slow release. Hitting the Strike input with a gate makes some amazing plucky, boing-y sounds. The rev2 version also allows it to be used as a simple envelope generator, which is a neat touch. It's also a 2 channel mixer, with an aux input.

The good:
The sound, oh man the sound

The bad:
The controls are a bit small and cramped when you've got a lot plugged in. I mostly like my modules to be spacious (huge), this feels a bit too small for me.

Sweet LPG
nikthegreek 05.08.2020
As any other Make Noise product this module is cranked with features. Apart from being a nice sounding Low Pass Gate it also has additional useful features like pinging or ducking signals.

Using it as a VCA is not ideal as it will never be completely silent (especially when you feed it low frequency signals). But it makes very sweet short slopes that can give short-percussive sounds a natural transient.

A
great module...
AelitaFromMars 04.08.2019
Optomix is a great module to have more than one of.

Be adviced that i got a rev1 version (the one with an earlier "new style" version of the face plate with some small differences in the printing, rather than the current rev2 version.

Most notably, this rev1 board is:
-missing the feature where you can put audio into the damp jack to have it act as a ducker compressor/feedback self-adjuster, which was part of why i bought it. :/ Luckily, i have another optomix laying around.

-on the plus side, hypothetically replacable vactrols. Not that you'd probably want to or have access to the replacement sub pcb:s, but you could design something of your own and plug in.

So... be aware that thomann might have some mixed revisions on this one in stock. They're all great. just slightly different in tone and functionality.
