The Twimble is really two pedals in one. The Pre-Driver, which is volume boost with some secret fairy dust, and the 'Simble', which is a Dumble Amplifier emulator.

The Pre-Driver has its own dedicated on/off footswitch and a selector for the degree of gain - either 6db or 20db.

The Pre-Driver can be used as a Solo boost or as an overall gain increase to overdrive the 'Dumble' part of the pedal. As a Solo boost, 20db is far too much. In fact even 6db is just a little bit loud. there is no way to switch beteen 6db and 20db without bending down and turning the rotary switch.

The second part is the Dumble amp emulator. Again, it has its own dedicated on/off footswitch. When the controls are set at the recommended starting point there is little change to your original guitar sound. Perhaps a very slight drop in volume. But everything else stays entirely intact. This is quite remarkable because your guitar signal is already negotiating the circuitry by this time.

Other than overall Volume and Distortion level there are two other controls, Contour and Accent. Contour works essentially as a treble roll off for particularly bright amplifiers that might start sounding too harsh. The Accent is a bucket of very powerful something or other that completely changes the character of the distortion.

There are unlimited tonal options here and it takes some serious dedication to sit down and work it all out. This is not a simple overdrive pedal. This is some pretty sophisticated circuitry. The tonal characteristic of the distortion is generally much creamier than most overdrive pedals that invariably have some degree of bass cut and mid boost. the Twimble does not so this. Your original guitar tone remains completely recognisable through the increasing amounts of gain and overdrive.

But I think it might be an acquired taste. The distorted tone is perhaps a little too 'refined' for what most people might expect in an overdrive. And, as I said, it also takes considerable patience to deal with the unlimited tonal possibilities offered by the addition of the Contour and Accent controls. Sometimes a simple two knob pedal gets you where you want to be quicker!

But none of this takes away from the sheer quality of this pedal and its extensive tonal palette.

Rhythm and lead sounds in the one box !

Not long purchased so only used at rehearsals so far. Impressed enough to take it out on the board though for the next few gigs.Nice range of sweet distortion from fairly transparent to edgy and gutsy. I use both a bluesy Strat sound and a heavy Billy G Les Paul sound and find that a small turn in the sensitivity is all that's needed. The predrive brings in a great boost for solo's and it sings nicely but would have liked an adjustable boost level - you're kinda stuck with the level it gives you although you can adjust down at least with your guitar volume obviously.
Pros - Two pedals in one, great sound
Cons - Bit pricey but it is quality! Boost level adjust would have been good
