Cable sound, good processing and low-cost!

J.B.Goode, 15.01.2011
I have the spark now for a few months (Proberaum / stage) and am very satisfied! The price performance and the processing of the G50er is very good.

The transmitter is made of metal and very solid. The battery compartment has a lock. Unfortunately, I did not get my Sanyo batteries pure, as it became too tight, normal batteries came in and out well. The transmitter has a metal clip on the back, which grips well. The antenna is like short, wide and looks very solid. Otherwise, the transmitter has an ON / OFF switch, a mute button, which after 2 seconds presses the signal at the main output of the receiver, 2 buttons for setting the channel and a small display. The cable is connected to the transmitter via a 4 pin TA4f plug and does not really make a stable impression. There will probably have to be soldered again if I find good plugs.

The receiver has two infectious antennas about 15 cm long and is slightly longer than an FX pedal in "standard" format. In addition to the main output, the receiver also has a tuner OUT. This remains open when the transmitter is muted. It is also interesting that the power supply as with most devices with 9V. With 300 mA the receiver does not pull much and can therefore be hung in the same power supply stripe as other pedals on the FX board. There are 12 radio channels available. The cable simulation is rather playful ...

The direct comparison between Sommercable in the clean channel with a split humbucker at my Fender Concert was sobering. The radio system steals the signal some brilliance and the signal becomes somewhat quieter. A little less "attack" or "punch" could be heard with the bass low E string. But the stop in direct comparison. If I only use the radio system and adjust the sound by EQ am amp on Gusto, everything sounds great. The "leg-free" is, incidentally, megageil

With 2 Aldi batteries (1.70 Euro 8 pcs) are more than 8 hours playing time. I only use the spark and can highly recommend it for this price.

EDIT: ADDITION:
Radio system was used 1-3 times a week for about 3 hours each.

The cable on the transmitter has not held for 6 months. At Ebay you get custom cables from UK, which are substantially better than the original. After about a year of operation, the socket on the transmitter was broken! Material wear, the plastic is broken. Have a summer XXL cable directly soldered into the housing, this modification is not without, since one must provide for a good strain relief. Fortunately, the socket was not on the main board, but on a small circuit board decoupled from the main board.

What should be the effort with the updates and incompatibleness between different firmware versions and send systems (micro / guitar)? This is not customer friendly !!
Soundwise, I find the radio system still great, but quality failed where it should not really be.

I like it!

McBass, 29.06.2012
After six years of analogue T.Bone Sendrerecke, various searches on the Internet, forums, Thomann reviews and YouTube videos, I decided then for the G50. And I can only rank in the chain of positive reviews. THE DEVICE IS SUPER CLASS !!!!

Yes, this knob for cable length emulation is nonsense. But it would not be a line6 product if there was not some kind of emulation. I leave it on 0, because the brilliant sound is simply the hammer. And for the sound processing there are then EQs.
The receiver is extremely flat at the bottom; All screws are sunk. This allows the device to be mounted perfectly on the floorboard.
The connection cable is actually about 10 cm too short. Although the inner cable is excellent (strain relief reinforced by shrink tube), it works through the 6.3mm jack plug in metal version cheap. I have a longer cable with Neutrik Silent Winkelstecker manufactured. Now my system is perfect for me.

Supplement 06.07.2012:
Have the G50 now intensiev on gigs and used in rehearsals and must now still point to a problem.
The battery remaining indicator is for a bucket. For fresh brand batteries and the power saving mode, the display will show 10 hours. In real it is then at most 6.
The display from 10 to 4 remaining hours changes only slowly; The time from 4 to 0 hours but then passes within 20 minutes.
The LEDs at the base are even worse (you do not look constantly at the SendePack).
3 LEDs green are displayed for 5.5 hours, then a red LED follows shortly before it starts to flash immediately.

Generally I change the batteries now again as before. Just put all 2 gigs of new batteries clean and good.

Perhaps it is also due to the batteries; Ch again try another varieties brand batteries.

Supplement 9.9.2013
After a good year on the stages of this world the transmitter is in the bucket. In fact, the battery compartment has turned out to be a weak point. The whole thing became more and more labriger. The result is that if you jump around or move fast, probably the battery contact and the connection is broken.
The Thomann warranty service is already going to be, but what will the future bring with this station?
