Wireless Wonders
Matt E., 28.05.2013
The Line 6 Relay G50 is the perfect tool for those of us not wanting to have our sound corrupted by poor frequency range transmission and unreliable RF signal. This Digital Wireless package is Ideal for use with pedal boards as it sits right in there, no bigger than your average Boss pedal, a superb 'cable length' adjustment means you can keep your tone from a good distance away! I've never had the unit 'dropout' when I get too far away and I've never had my tone ruined, I've tested this unit in an A/B comparison with high end instrument cable and I can't hear any difference, for me that's a winner. Handy Belt pack which gives you a clear readout of the transmitters status with battery life, mute etc. Some my find the transmitter a bit thirsty, I change my two AA batteries every 2nd gig (Assuming 2.5hrs use with set times and sound checks per gig) I can accept that if I get the quality I am getting sound wise. I do wish companies would do away with the mini XLR connection going to the transmitter from the instrument, They are troublesome to repair/replace and don't always make a great connection, I have to tape mine in place as it falls out, but that is fault with the cable not the unit. I also think the cable input should be on the top side of the reciever as it sits on your belt pack, having gravity assist in the pulling on your cable its only a matter of time before your lead falls out of the transmitter mid solo. As Steve Vai would say, 'coitus interruptus' If it wasn't for the silly mini xlr and the constant draining batteries it would be a big fat 10/10 for me. Still, the best unit I've used to date.

G50 fabulous
Peter5780, 09.11.2015
To be honest , anyone who knows me would wonder why I got one of these, the venues and stages I play on ain't exactly big ( pubs etc) however! I think It's when your short of space these things come into there own. No more cables to trip over and fall into some bloke on his way back from the bar. The build quality is excellent and it worked straight out of the box, no drop out even though I went to the end of the garden to try it out. You can use these on half power to conserve battery life and Change channel if someone else has one. Overall I'm delighted. It just works.

Great product!
13.03.2016
Best wireless I have purchased so far!
I have used a lot of different wireless units in my career, starting with a very low budget VHF systems such as Samson Stage5, and more pro UHF units like AGK, Shure, Sennheiser, etc. and I always found them non-reliable. The sound was always missing something (due to compounding), there were the usual signal dropouts, and the constant fear that it may not work in the next venue.
Well, now I don't have to worry about that anymore.
I've tested G50 in the last two weeks and all I can say is WOW! Been using it in different venues and clubs and it's been working like a champ! No signal dropouts (even when I place the receiver in a different room), all the frequencies are there and no worries about interference with other units. I play acoustic and electric guitar in one band and acoustic and electric bass in another and it works great. Unity gain is perfect, all the low frequencies of the 5-string bass are there and even the piezo pickup of the acoustic bass sounds just like plugged with a normal cable.
They're built like a tank!. Both the transmitter and the receiver are housed in a metal chassis. The receiver is small enough to fit in a pedalboard. The transmitter has a good weight and you can feel it on your guitar strap or on your belt.
The battery life is something you have to be very aware of. Great thing is that on the transmitter you can read the battery life. Make sure you always carry spares. Standard battery life is about 8 hours if you use good quality alkaline batteries. The batteries that came with it lasted for two gigs. But i always have rechargeable batteries with me.

All in all, great product.

A bit overrated
29.09.2015
My main criticism with this, is the cable connector from the transmitter to your guitar. It's mini-XLR (I think), and that requires for one, a very special cable with only one use, and it's way too small for my taste. I'd rather have a bit bigger transmitter and a jack, really, because then I'd have a much more solid cable and plug.

I'd like to feel safe and calm when playing live, but this makes me a bit nervous.

The features. Well, the channel selector isn't very precise compared to the labels, and that's a bit annoying when setting up in a hurry. But once you hit the right channel, you're okay, so I guess it works.

Stability? Yes, it's very good. I've had some interference at a sound check once, but it went away, so I can't say I've had any consistent problems. Range is more than good enough for the gigs I've played. I've been down in the audience without my signal dropping out, so I'm happy!!

The battery door doesn't seem super-solid, but I've been careful with it, so it works good so far.

So yeah, there's some minor weaknesses here, hence why I think it's overrated, but all in all it's a lot of wireless for the money, so it works good! Therefore my total rating is just that - good!
