Very nice microphone !

05.04.2017
I had one of these already, and bought one more for a stereo-recording. I tested it in omni mode on a pipe-organ, which is known as very dynamic musical instrument regarding frequencies (I tested it against a set of DPA 2011c). In the analyzer software the diagram is almost the same as the DPA. But the Lewitt has (inspite of the DPA) a desirable high (around 10k) and low end (around 250Hz). It sounds very lineair, also the noise factor is very low. The only downside is that the Lewitt takes very much of the +48V power. So the recording level on the preamp must be tightened up considerably, in my case with it was +11 dB opposite the DPA's.

Good microphone

07.04.2015
An all purpose microphone I bought as an upgrade to my NT1a.

Features:

This has options making it suitable to record everything. The buttons are easy to control and it is clear what mode you have selected.

Sound:

The main difference with this microphone is that it handles the "s" and "f" sibilance noticeably better. It is easier and quicker to make the LCT 640 sound right without having to post process or EQ as much.

The output is lower compared to the NT1a, I have to turn the gain dial up by an extra 1/6th to match. Overall it sounds slightly different, less bright and smoother but if not listening for it I couldn't tell.

Quality:

The first one I had I must have been unlucky, there was humming (mic grounding issue with grille and case?), but that was taken care of swiftly and the second one worked as it should.
