Beyond Amazed!

MikkoJ, 08.10.2014
First of all. I was not sure about getting this guitar, since my last Kramer, which was a Pacer Classic model, was not that impressive in my opinion.
Im not going to go into details on the Pacer model, but i am going to say that it was not the best guitar, when it came to craftmanship and tone. But hey... the price was incredibly low too... so what more can we expect? Enough of that.

The Baretta Vintage. I have always wanted a real baretta, and finally decided to pull the trigger. I know its not an original 80's one.. but still. The price point on this one was the thing that really got me intrested... I though myself... "Well it can not be perfect, sice the price is fairly low, but I will give it a change"

Finally a week later i got my hands on the guitar and was ready to take it on a test ride. I pulled it out of the box and was beyond amazed!
I was afraid that the guitar would be extra light, like most of the cheaper side guitars i have played and owned. This guitar actually weighs as much as my ESP Custom Shop Kamikaze, which also has a maple body.

The craftmanship on this guitar is TOP NOTCH!
Paintjob is solid, no sharp fret ends sticking out, all the hardware are installed sppot on and tremolo/ nut are set spot on, to make the strings go evenly along the fretboard.

The tone of this thing is just MONSTROUS! Guitar was built using extremely resonant woods and it has just the perfect tone in my opinion.
The low end is REALLY tight and full, just like in your modern EMG equipped neck through modern metal guitars. THUMPING LOW END!
Then again the highs on it are amazingly clear and strong! It is really a pleasure to play this guitar on clean tones too.

This guitar just shines on every aspect and it actually sounds WAY BETTER than my Charvel San Dimas, which has been my favourite guitar for 3+ years.
I would love my charvel to have the low end like this Kramer has.

The bottom line is, i have had guitars that cost more than twice the amount of this Kramer and this guitar just makes them look bad.
For example... I have had 3 ESP M-II guitars and NONE of them sounded like this. Makes me wonder why should i ever buy a guitar, with a price tag over twice as expensive than this Baretta?

I have only one complaint to say, and that is the volume pot.
I do not know if this is a common issue or not, but on my guitar the volume pot is cutting the sound sometimes when i turn the volume up.
The other thing is, that it does not really lower the volume smoothly, you just keep turning it until the sound suddenly cuts off.
This is ofcourse a very small flaw and it can be fixed very easily, by changing the pot to a quality part.

I was going to give only 4 stars on the features, because it only has one pickup, but then again... like all Kramer heads know, IT IS A BARETTA! It is supposed to have only one pickup.

I have been playing guitar for over 10 years now and had many guitars during this time.
If someone would give me this guitar and claim that it is an original 80's U.S.A. made Baretta, i would believe every word of it!

So all in all. If you like the legendary original 80's Kramers, this one is for you!
TOP QUALITY craftmanship, with STRONG tone and sustain!

I give it 10/10.
Why not 9/10 because of the broken volume pot you ask?
Because it can be replaced and this guitar is just simply amazing for the price! I would pay twice the money for it any day!

Best bang for the buck ever!

Mario5087, 23.03.2018
This guitar is awesome...sound, finish...and very affordable. The finish is on par with more expensive guitars (it's as good as an ESP Skull&Snakes and a Caparison Dellinger I own, no kidding) and the sound is huge, absolutely stunning. That Seymour Duncan JB screams the hell out of it. The guitar needed some adjustments but otherwise, nothing important (I had to shim a couple of saddles because the strings were a tad lower than the others). The delivery was super fast (thank you Thomann!) and I'm extremely satisfied with both the service and the guitar. Go and grab one before is too late...either a Baretta 84 or a 85, depending on your fingerboard preference. It's the best bang for the buck you can find. Well done Kramer!!
