Korg Krome 88 keys

Music Workstation

With Krome as the successor to the M-50, Korg has rounded off the product selection nicely - and is setting new standards among beginners' workstations in sound versatility, sound generation and user interface. Alongside the 3.8 GB (!!) PCM-ROM and 8 possible multisamples per oscillator, the 7", highly sensitive display in particular is the unique selling point of this workstation series, and offers a quick and direct interface for the absolutely intuitive operation of the instrument.

The drum track function, known from other Korg instruments, offers a flexible drum accompaniment to any sound, and up to two simultaneously operable arpeggiators complement this function for the device's other possible sounds. Those who value high-quality sounds and a wide range of functionality in a workstation, as well as user-friendly operation for a reasonable price, will find the Krome to be a great companion.

Korg Krome 88

Rfm, 26.06.2015
Excellent with one minor point which is the weighted keyboard does not have the full feel of a real piano. For the price there's no reason why this should be the case except it is really light for its size - good for gigging.

Sounds and features really good. Could do with a basic sampling feature.

Overall really pleased would recommend to all who can't afford a Korg Kronos

Super flexible workstation at sensational price

Dirk897, 06.10.2012
I have 2.5 years now the Krome 88 at home and already extensively tested (in particular compared to the Yamaha MOX 8). To the prerequisites I have a Roland Fantom X7 as a workstation for 3 years in the employment and was now looking for a 2nd keyboard (88, hammer), which at the same time a good sound generator.

The Yamaha liked a lot of sounds (nature, synth), but the sound of the piano did not quite agree with me. The Korg comes with a very strong piano sound, also the other sounds can be seen (whereby I admire, here no improvement to the Fantom X sounds to see (except for the organs), but this is probably due to the strength of the Fantom).

Absolute strength of the Korg is however the super operation over the large display (on the other hand, the MOX was a joke) and above all the flexibility in Combination mode (16 layers, different keyboard, Velocity ranges), especially as regards the midi mapping! ! One of the main requirements for me was that I can also control all 16 tracks of the Fantom via the keyboard of the Korg and vice versa, which functions (as well as all possible PC and CC commands) in both directions perfectly, the Yamaha offered hardly possibilities!

The bottom line is the Korg super-flexible 88er (good keyboard, super display with control possibilities) Masterkeyboard, which is well under 20 KG is very comfortable for live. This is complemented by a very nice sound generator and is thus worth the money in all respects!

Nice would have been the missing stereo audio input in the Krome, so I must unfortunately use a live submixer, the MOX would have an input offered ...

I'm already looking forward to the new possibilities, and especially the choice between the class sounds of the Korg and the established strong sounds of the Roland Fantoms!
