A great buy.

22.04.2016
The pros:
Looks great, feels great, sounds great. The new Shigeru Kawai pianos sound amazing. The response and touch are the one of the best, if not the best, in its price range. It has a wide range of features, if you're willing to put in the time and effort to learn how to use them.

The cons:
The action isn't perfect, but very respectable for a DP and better than some acoustic pianos. A limited amount of instruments, as expected of a DP. Can be remedied via patching.

Overall:
I'm very happy with the buy. It's a good piano.

Ingenious piano, very good price-performance ratio

Laserjones, 14.03.2016
I use the ES8 exclusively for private pleasure in the living room and therefore I have chosen the elegant white version with design stand and full pedal. I am not a professional pianist, but I have experience with various acoustic and electronic pianos and can therefore classify the quality quite well.

Highlight of this piano is the keypad, which is absolutely authentic to me, both in terms of hammer mechanics and the "Ivory Touch" surface, which is really very grippy and pleasant. The keyboard allows extremely sensitive playing.

The piano sounds are also beyond any doubt, absolutely realistic, and thanks to various available variations they cover a wide musical range. However, I missed a saloon piano sound (Honky Tonk).

The other available sounds are largely usable, though the quality? As unfortunately with many digital pianos? The piano rests noticeably. Unfortunately, I just did not like the strings, which one likes with the piano overlays, so much. Do not sound too realistic? Because with today's sampling technique clearly more in it would have been. In addition, I find it somewhat too obtrusive in combination with the piano sound. Also the chorus sounds like so often strongly after samples and little after man. Cool synthesizer sounds are unfortunately completely missing, but there are two fantasy sounds, for which I can recognize no musical usability. Since I bought the whole thing primarily as a piano, these criticisms are less important.

The loudspeakers sound surprisingly well and round, because of the size, I feel no desire for external speakers in the living room operation. Note: The headphones supplied by Thomann in a complete bundle with a bench and stand are not suitable for the ES8 and can be given away safely to the offspring. Anyone who wants to play with headphones should use a good one. Very nice way, that there are two headphone jacks. Also the other connection possibilities leaves nothing to be desired.

In short, I am absolutely happy with my purchase and guess times that you can get in this price hardly anything better.
