Overall a good product but...

PBWuk, 10.01.2017
It's a good product & along with the added app (extra $10) the iRig is a great choice for electrifying your acoustic instrument.
..So far I"ve found some issues..

Firstly to truly use in a live performance you will need to purchase a splitter cable (1 Stereo to 2 monos) & tweek the app settings. Plugging in just a normal cable from the iRig to a mixer will cause sound issues. (Hiss/distortion/popping) Sadly there is no mention to this problem either through the manual or any online resource. Thankfully IK Multimedia customer support is excellent and with their help I seem to be getting better results.

The built quality seems a bit fragile but I guess time will tell.

Overall the product gets a 8/10 from me. Its a shame this product has the potential to be awesome but needs a rethink for semi pro live/recording use. (Although there isn't any other products this good at this price!)

Good approach with potential

01.01.2016
For more than thirty years I am hobbyist with various bands as FOH Tonmann on the road and have experience with the sound recording of acoustic guitars. I bought the iRig Acoustic because the guitarist of a band that I'm responsible for did a FURCH without a pickup. The system is therefore intended primarily for live use.
First tried in the rehearsal room ... Already when unpacking the quite filigree construction stands out - how long will the thin käbelchen hold well? The manufacturer obviously has the home studio area in focus, because a decent studio also has decent microphones and can safely do without the iRig. Clipped on the sound hole, plugged into the headphone jack of the iPad 2 and the previously installed from the AppStore version Amplitube Acoustic Free started. From the 3.5 mm jack you can go via adapter cable directly into the mixer.
To start with, the disappointment was great. A high feedback tendency and a "potty" sound and a relatively fast onset of distortion, even after upgrading to the with 9.99¤ to book beating "professional version" of the software, did not meet my expectations. Have tried many different settings for many hours and came to no acceptable result.
The turnaround brought the idea to test the system directly with cubasis without Amplitube: With the parametric EQ, the feedback frequencies can be filtered out exactly and without major loss of sound. The sound can be well formed by EQ and is then quite balanced ... and the signal does not overdrive as fast as with Amplitube. Incidentally, the insert effects of the cubasis (Compressor, Chorus and Reverb) are so good that the signal from the iPad is directly usable for the live mix.
In the middle of January we have the next live session, afterwards I can report about the rough practice.
My intermediate conclusion: The microphone itself is not bad and transmits the character of an acoustic guitar (without Amplitube) quite well. For the live use I wish me a suitable cable.
PS I tried to get the system running with Behringer's iStudio, which I did not succeed.
