HK Audio Linear 5 - Power Pack

I've been a HK fan for some time now, usually renting the larger front of house rigs for concerts and events I'm involved in either running or technically speaking.

When the opportunity came to buy a new front of house system myself, I did my research into various systems, and settled on the Linear 5 series, but it took a while to decide on which pack format, eventually going for the Power Pack, and wow, what a great system!

I've used it in a few configurations and events already since it arrived just over a month back, full system (2 subs, 2 tops), small venue (just the tops) and medium venue (1 sub, 2 tops). Each configuration just works brilliantly, the frequency crossovers, the smoothness and clarity of the sound that is produced, the ease of setup, it's all just brilliant.

Using the full system for a small concert event at a local school, the various teachers involved with the concert, all good musicians themselves, all commented on just how smooth the response was at the lower end and how the vocals just popped with clarity at the top. I mean this was, in part, down to my engineer on site as well, but the system just ran flawlessly.

I'm a DJ as well and the last gig I did, I just too the 2 tops with me, and the fullness of the sound just filled the room, gave a clarity like nothing else I've heard lately, and even running as tops half power, was ample enough to fill the large reception hall I was in, even to the point that it was clearer than the bands PA and backline for the richness of the sound it produced.

I guess is anything, the only thing I could criticise the system on would be in smaller venues, even with just the one sub, the bass can seem a bit overpowering, but that's really easy to solve by changing the crossover point and rolling back the subs output a bit, so nothing really more than you'd do with a traditional amp rack.

A brilliant system, and I'm already looking at buying more of the 112 (the tops) to expand my business.
