Key unit of HK Elements system
31.03.2015
There are more and more 'stick' loudspeaker systems coming on to the market. Sound can only be a personal choice but the HK Elements system is still the most elegant, versatile (in its modular additions) and easy to set up.

The E110 contains a 10 inch driver and amplifiers to power this and either another passive 10 inch speaker or 2 mid-high units. The mid-high units can be connected via an EP45 pole containing all the connections. No wires are visible and the pole can be adjusted for height.

More bass can be generated if the E110A is placed on its side and 2 sockets enable vertical or horizontal positioning. The bass is a nice punchy hi-fi sound rather than trouser flapping bass. There is no control of sound built into the unit which makes it less versatile than some competitors.

2 E110A units and 4 mid-high units struggle to provide room filling sound but are ideal for weddings or small parties for up to 100 people. For larger functions an extra pair of bass speakers is essential. This makes the system expensive against other sound solutions but the portability, convenience and sound quality may outweigh this consideration.

Crazily light

I did a lot of research looking for a sub that I could lift in and out of the car without giving myself a hernia... These HK subs are small, they sound amazing and they are half the weight of anything else. I haven't tried the element top units, we use these with some QSC K8's and the whole system sounds amazing. Get the HK covers to keep them looking nice

Will these sound like a full sized 2 x 15" sub being driven by a 2Kw amp? Obviously not. Do the fill out the bottom end very nicely and punch way above their weight? Yes, thank you very much. On their own these are not going to melt the earth but as part of a balanced system they are surprisingly beefy and deliver a satisfying Low Frequency experience giving the whole Elements system a rich bottom end extension which enable the listener to hear the full range of music being presented - both live bands and pre-recorded stuff. I use 4 in a stack in a 500 seater hall doing low to medium volume stuff. The real bass end is mainly 5 string bass guitar and Electric Drum Kit and the stack deals with these with ease and authority. There is no obvious point where the cabs just decide that the notes are too low and they will not bother. I really like them :). As I said earlier, they are never going to sound like the bottom end of a full arena rig. That is not their job. They do what they are designed to do very well indeed.

Souverän – ausbaufähig - gut
Stefan853, 16.12.2012
