J
Excellent looperboard after the latest firmare update
JimmyTwoTimes 03.08.2020
I purchased this specifically because the latest firmware update from Headrush for the Looperboard got raving reviews.
They were not wrong. What an amazing looper now this is! I really wanted it because it's used by folks like Brady Watt etc but the opinions on the interwebz were leaning on the side of caution, so I waited. It was worth the wait!

Also I really, really appreciate the ease of use. Let me repeat that. EASE OF USE. This is critical. You don't have time in your daily life to navigate garbage menus, what you have time for is making music. Period. One of the reasons I chose the Looperboard was specifically because I've read it saves time due to everything being so intuitive, and it did not disappoint.

Before purchasing, I sent an email to Thomann asking if this would have the latest firmware and they said no, it comes with the factory firmware. But the update was just painless and SUPER easy to install.

Check youtube for feature reviews, but I would say it's a good buy once you install the firmware.

MIDI problems but good pedalboard
Edgar_F 03.04.2021
-EDIT- I've changed my rating because after 6 months the jitter issue still hasn't been solved. -EDIT-

If you're thinking of using it with a DAW forget about it, wait until they make an update to make it usable with a better tempo syncing than MIDI sync.

There’s a major problem when syncing the looperboard to a DAW (Ableton in my case). The MIDI clock out of the audio interface is not the most stable ever, so sometimes it jitters. The problem is that the looperboard will stretch the time of the loops to match the BPM, which changes because of the MIDI clock jitter, therefore getting the loop out of sync.

Instead of stretching the loop to the BPM, it should sync according to the bar (or whatever you have set in the Quantize options). It renders the looperboard completely useless for using it with a DAW.

The other thing that doesn’t make any sense is the BPM being adjusted with decimal precision. I have been playing music for 22 years and have never seen a 99.99 time signature.

The rest of the functionalities are amazing but it doesn't serve the purpose that I bought it for.

It's out, but it's not ready
Don M 22.08.2019
What is being sold as the king of looperpedals seems to be a beta version of something that maybe one day could turn out to be a great professional tool.
1 - No MIDI Clock out is a bummer. 2 - there are a lot of bugs. Sometimes when I save a project and open it again, the loops fall out of sync. Track one actually, the other three don't. It does not happen when I loop track 1 and 2 in the exact same length. Sometimes also when you load the loop you did, some of the settings you where doing like changing the pitch of a loop do not get saved. have started to note my settings on paper, but that's obviously not a solution. Receiving MIDI Clock doesn't work flawlessly either as opposed to BOSS RC 505 etc. EFX on the looperboard are poor, I'd love it if someone would do a looper with EFX send / returns to use proper efx. Am tired of brands releasing beta versions and then you have to wait for updates which will only be made if the product is successful, which judging by reactions is not the case here.
