Great little box of tricks for the price
04.03.2017
Bought this so I could use it on the boat, its small, really well built and robust looking, such that it could take a few knocks. the price range is very attractive as well but don't let the price fool you, it should be way above what i paid for it.
I particularly like speaker grill which I found to be strong and as sturdy as the rest of the unit, also the little knobs on the side so you can hook your guitar strap to it for carrying, which is great when you have to move about a lot while carrying the amp about.

It hums a bit when you have the chorus and delay turned up, but all you need to do is twiddle the controls a bit so you can take this to a minimum. Mind you when playing the sound of the guitar mutes this to zero.

The sounds are great ranging from mellow ( which I think is great) to quite harsh and gritty sounding, coming from such a small unit I find is fab.
The middle ranges take sometime to adjust to what I like, but again twiddle about with the control nob, which incidentally are very clearly marked, so very easy to see and to adjust.
Considering this unit is rated at 10 watt the volume would suggest a bit more that this. Its also rated at 5 watt when using batteries ( which are another plus for this unit ) be careful you don't put ordinary batteries in it and plug it into the mains (Opps boo boo) though this is marked clearly on the units case.
Would i recommend it to others YES definitely, if you have little space need an amp that sounds good, is easy to use and carry about then this is the one.

Okay for busking but not for a long time
shootnix, 17.07.2017
I bought this combo for busking and it does the job. The combo built like a tank. Quite heavy but not so much. Sounds very good, better than many others at this price range.
The really cool thing is a built-in charger for batteries. But this little amp needs too many power. Batteries are running out after 3-4 hours. And then I caught a little bug: when batteries are starting to running out delay begins to go crazy. The amp starts to buzz and its very loud annoying.
My advice: always keep 10-20 batteries for backup when going out for more than 3 hours. =)

Andrew A., 10.10.2015
Massively impressed by this little unit.

This is a pretty powerful AMP for it's size, I was particularly impressed with the robustness of the unit. Nothing cheap about the casing and I expect it will take plenty of punishment if taken to the street. The grill particularly is nice and rugged and not the thin aluminium that bends just moving it around that you usually get on the cheap little amps.

Sound quality is great for the price. The effects are the pretty standard chorus and delay you get on most amps. The amp does have quite a loud buzz when on and with effects turned up. Though it's totally blocked out by the guitar once your playing.

The EQ is pretty standard for these small amps. You're never going to get super muddy tones on a little amp but you can alter the mid a good amount.

Tried it with a couple of electrics, an electro acoustic and with a mandolin in the clean channel. Nice and clear. Perfect for a practice amp for taking away. Haven't tried the mic yet for actual voice but playing an mp3 through is great. Could even use it as a speaker for parties.

It comes with hooks on the side to stick your guitar strap on if carrying around like a lot of busking amps do. I'd get some washers though as you really dont want to be dropping.

Takes 10 rechargeable AA batteries and even under battery power is nice and loud. Easily good enough for busking on a shopping precinct or quieter street.

Overall a fantastic little amp.

You can take it anywhere
Curtain Call, 23.10.2017
I really liked this amp because you can basically carry it anywhere in a bag, and consider its cost, it's really good, especially if you are a street performer. The only thing that I have to say negatively is the fact that when using batteries, the sound quality drops, but it is something that was to be expected, and you can still do your performance quite well, so I really recommend this product to people that want to play in the streets.

For the price its great
Paul592, 12.10.2017
I was pleasantly surprised about everything about this amp. It feels very solid and its nice and loud on battery mode (I play with a 14 piece busking band and this can cut through).

The sound is fairly nice too especially the clean channel. The chorus and delay are ok but nothing special, they are still nice to have.

The distortion channel on the other hand leaves some to be desired. It is quite grainy and I usually just max out my favourite mid frequency and kill the highs and lows. It would be nice for metal though lol. Plenty of gain ceiling and the bass is actually pretty good out of the 6.5" speaker.

Overall for the price its fantastic.

The low-budget bargain that does the job
Michael9249, 03.12.2013
Definitely recommend getting long life rechargeable batteries and a charger as ordinary batteries may adversely effect this equipment. You can switch between two guitar channels. The mic channel has few options. Volume up or volume down.

There are other better quality and more sophisticated products available but they cost a lot more money.

If you need a convenient, affordable & portable way to amplify guitar and vocals. It does the job!

Best small Amp in a big world
David187, 18.06.2013
Can not get any better than this for a portable practice amp or backstage warm up amp.
Battery feature works well and holds charge for days on end with good quality rechargeable rated AA's
Delay and overdrive are awesome and chorus is also good sounding.
Effects are hiss noisy but what do you expect at this price.
I have used this amp every day for a few years and it has never let me down.
Mp3 input via mini jack is a very useful feature.
Even used this as an onstage monitor.
Totally wonderful best cheap piece of Kit ever!!!

A great value busking amp!
Les C., 13.01.2015
I bought this as an inexpensive amp to go busking with. Firstly, on delivery I found the build quality to be great for the price. The ability to recharge the AA batteries (not supplied) by plugging the amp into the mains is a great feature. As for the sound of the amp the tone is very decent. The comprehensive tone controls do a good job. I tend to use the amp mostly to amplify an electro acoustic, but the distortion, when I have plugged in an electric is good. One modification that I've recently made is to replace the speaker (which is voiced more for electric guitar) with an inexpensive full range JBL car stereo speaker (I'm sure that this will void the warranty!). The new speaker was an exact fit and has turned the amp into a fantastic busking amp - to my ears rivalling amps that cost a whole lot more!

Harley Benton CG-10X Street
Andrew4614, 15.03.2015
A few weeks ago by trusty little Vox battery amp gave up the ghost. The cost of repair was higher than buying a new one. Playing mostly acoustic guitar along with vocals, the only real effects I need are reverb and a touch of chorus. I looked at loads. The Roland Street cubes are great, but very expensive for my budget, and few other amps did exactly what I need but this one. Construction is solid, as are the control dials, the sound is accurate and surprisingly loud. The reverb and chorus add a little hiss to the sound, but in practice that's never heard. Only two small gripes. No handle is supplied and the screws that hold a handle in place (I am using a leather belt) very quickly pulled out of the screw holes. I have now fitted longer, thicker screws. Overall this is amazing for the money. Just what a busker needs, and nice and light too!!!

Lawrence E., 22.06.2014
Very useful where portability and lack of mains power is a factor. However, the output tends to distort before even 50% volume.

Cheap as chips, but for home practice only
niallt, 17.11.2018
I use this with a uBass guitar. Cheap and cheerful, but a bit of a buzzing sound and slight distortion when turned up to 11.
Fine for home practice, but not the sound quality that you're going to get from a branded make. Plenty powerful and good value for the money, if you can live with the sound quality.

Whether for busking or home/small-studio use, this amplifier works well...
Joe911, 16.05.2013
This is a versatile box of tricks. It has generous features and is robustly built. The 'effects' are quite useful for 'middle of the road' use. It provides 10w with mains power, and delivers 5w with batteries. I bought also the 30w HB which at the time of writing (early 2013) was discontinued.

As a 'first' amplifier it would excel, as the feature-list is considerable compared to most startup amplifier which would be available with typical guitar & amplifier packages. There are 2 inputs with individual gain (volume) settings.

With more than 20 years experience with amplifiers, this would be considerable as one of the gems.

The only caveat I would issue regarding it is, as to what the effect of putting ordinary batteries in, then plugging the mains on (which is warned-against on the casing itself).

I have bought 3 of these amplifiers, for myself and people I know, and would recommend them to anyone who only requires 5-10 watts, as the other features are very full, and would deal with most requirements.

Hisses so loud it's unusable
CJ Stone, 07.11.2017
Heading says it all. Bought this because of great price and lots of features. It is small and sturdy and seemingly well built. But it hisses so loudly - on both channels - I can't use it. Had to buy a replacement locally as too expensive to post back. You get what you pay for - but usually even cheap products can be used. You have been warned.

The little breaker street amp
Npossibl9, 04.03.2018
This is the nr. 1 amplifier for me to play on the streets, with battery power. I also use a CG-5 street and a CG-10. But this is the one with more inputs and with the power friendly characteristic: it works ok on 110V, even being projected for 220V. Also, I used it in small bar gigs with guitar, and rhythm on the auxiliar.

Great Amp and Great Value!
04.03.2017
I was very surprised by the quality of this amp. I had originally bought it to do a bit of bucking, but never actually got around to doing any - so I can't judge it from that point of view.

However, for it's size and it's price this amp as great power, a great variety of features, and a great sound. It's even been handy for gigging when you want an extra amp.

Would definitely recommend this - very good buy!

Amazing for the price
07.04.2015
I own four of these for teaching purposes. These little amps are feature-packed, tough, inexpensive, and sound better than equivalent Rolands and other miniature amps costing much more. The sound is good, the volume packs a punch, and the chorus in particular is very musical. Only complaints are that it would be nice to have a handle, and they are sometimes subject to rattles due to loose parts.

Little Gem!
DiegoA, 22.10.2014
58EUR for this? Insane! It's just impossible to find something better. Put it on perspective: 2 inputs, 2 channels, overdrive, chorus, delay, equalizer 4 bands... incredible... and the best: wireless & portable! I like how it sounds indeed. Highly recommended, Thomann brand Harley Benton is not only cheap, but very good.

Used for busking
A.R.K., 14.11.2018
I bought this amp for street performances in Portugal. A plus: it's sturdy, and made four flights in a cloth-covered suitcase without any problem. I also appreciate having the mic and guitar channel in one amp. Without that feature, it's not much use for busking.

The sound is so-so when on battery power. It didn't take much input to sound overloaded compared with my Vox Mini5 which supposedly has a lower wattage rating.

The big let-down was that it depletes batteries even when switched off. This meant that I had to have the amp on the charger right up until the time when I went out to play.

Portable Amp
ccc, 05.11.2013
I bought the Harley Benton CG-10x Street for playing my guitars on holidays. I wanted something easy, small and also battery powered. For that price and for the features I won't go back. It's exactly what I wanted. Not too much different from its (more expensive) competitors. Well built, two channels (the Channel B with Gain pot is not really great but can be nice if you tweak the EQ on the basses), two effects (delay and chorus with just one knob each) and a good EQ which is necessary to get the best even in small bedrooms. Has the name suggest could be nice even for busking even though it's probably not the loudest model so better choose the place carefully. Overall it's a great piece of equipment if you want to play your guitars everywhere without worrying about bringing expensive and heavy amps. Highly suggested for starters too.

Malcolm P., 11.04.2015
No fancy features that I wouldn't use, just a very well built mains/battery amplifier, light enough to carry out on the streets, yet plenty of power when battery powered.
For the price this is an excellent good value amplifier.

Nice amp for home and street
Urpo, 02.01.2014
This small street amp works well with guitar, mic and background files (mp3) from my phone. With reloadable batteries it gives 5 W and with power cord 10 W.
Some adjustments have to be made in order to use this during street gigs.

The overall quality is enough, but not so convincing. Fair value for price.
There is no separate pedal connection, but the main effects for accompany and/or solo playing are there.

Will see how the reloadable NiMH batteries will function in near future (
