You get what you pay for.
NikolaosL, 17.12.2020
It did seem expensive to buy and I was kinda doing the same thing with my hairs rubber band's but ...kinda doing it.
When i first placed it on I immediately saw and felt the difference. Sweeping has never been easier. It looks like it's made from quality materials and nice stitching. I have a feeling it will last a long time.

I use it for both my Carvin and my Hamer. I do have to point out though, that because my Hamer has a Floyd with a locking nut you can't slide it off with one hand like i can do with my Carvin, which has a Floyd, but has a plain nut with locking tuners.

Perfectionist Tool
snakeyay, 18.06.2020
If you are recording a guitar, you probably ran into an issue with some weird sounds and overtunes heard in the recording. That is exactly what this little gadget is here to remove. After putting this on my ESP LTD EC-1000 I did not notice a difference - but after putting it on my Epiphone Les Paul Special, I could clearly hear the difference.

That's more a testament of how awesome ESP's are, but regardless, you will most likely not hear the difference in a live setting (unless you have super awesome in-ear monitors, ala Matt Heafy, where you can hear the most minute imperfections).

If you love recording your guitar and want to get rid of overtones even after playing the section perfectly, this should be a weapon of choice in your arsenal.

Bonus point: Personally, it also looks cool on a guitar.

Super string mute.
Sparu, 04.05.2021
I got one of these after hearing Matt Heafy (Trivium) talking about them on a podcast. They're great for keeping things quiet and taming runaway notes/harmonics.

The fretwrap itself is a great design, if a little underwhelming for the price. However, I can't complain considering it's performance, and it looks significantly better than a sock or a hairband.

Helps somewhat
Fretwrapper, 10.09.2020
Does what it's meant for, helps damping unwanted string noises, but do not expect wonders. If you put it on your guitar and strum strings without fretting anything you can still hear a lot of semi-muffled strings, especially with high-gain settings. If you want to test it before buying, go ahead and take a long sock and wrap it around your guitar neck across the strings. If you find the result OK, go and buy Fretwrap - it's easier to use and does not smell as bad as your sock.

Better damping could only be achieved by totally different kind of mechanics, with rubbery materials, maybe touching multiple points on string.

Strap could be longer
AndyTheDude, 25.04.2021
My first fretwrap ever, and I've been playing bass for 25 years. I have to say that I use it all the time since I bought it. It is helpful even if your muting technique is flawless. I use it when I'm "operating" past the 12th fret and it makes me sound better no doubt. Could be cheaper though. Still, I would recommend.

A must have for advanced techniques
MetalJesus, 23.02.2021
I didn't use it much when I got this. But when I got into tapping and thumping. I will reduce the amount of extra sounds coming from your strings, and it does it very well.
Easy to put on/off, works as marketed and It's in black.

Bought both S and M size for my 4 string and 5 string bass guitars. Craftsmanship looks good. Nothing to complain! Bought 'em at 50% discount so price was fine too!

An industry standard in waiting.
Reeceekins , 19.02.2021
I know that fret wraps are kinda the fashionable accessory to try out these days so I jumped on it and really did notice the difference in stopping certain overtones or sympathetic resonance, you may not even hear this until you have been playing a while but believe me it's there. The quality speaks for itself, everyone uses Gruvgear for a reason. Pros are you have a solid product with multiple uses from resonance to an emergency capo. And am yet to find a con, months on and the velcro is still good and the elastic is still firm and working well. All in all 10/10, great purchase.

Leave on neck and reap benefits
Vinter, 07.02.2021
Even if this fretwrap seldom comes down to sit on the actual strings, it still has an effect which is to mute the strings beyond the nut that resonates with your normal playing. Cleans up the sound quite a bit.

Nothing special
Alex Ivory, 05.06.2018
It functions fairly well as a mute for feedback and unwanted noise, but it really is overpriced.
For practice purposes a clean sock tied to the fretboard has better results without even spending a cent and for stage purposes... A nicer and cleaner sock surely does the same!

The only advantage it has over DIY alternatives is that it makes you look more "professional" if you show up at a gig with one on your guitar.

Better than a sock
Philip.S, 17.02.2021
I was tired of assuring my bassist that I had a "clean sock" on my guitar, so I bought this specialty wrap

Great tool if you want to record extra clean sounds from your guitar and get rid of any noise while playing up and down the strings.

Great for tapping and arpeggio recordings.

Decent but overpriced and slightly pointless
r3dz, 10.04.2019
I am afraid I have to agree with some of the other reviews here, in saying that while this is a reasonable product, it is overpriced, and you may actually find better results with a DIY alternative. That said, it is well made, it does look cool, and way more professional than a DIY effort. Also, I have found that it may actually not mute all the strings due to how the cushion part can bend so... really, other than looking good, its a bit of a waste.

Great for ESP/LTD 6 strings
ultimagroove, 25.09.2020
I use these on my various ESP guitars and they fit great. Cut out all the unwanted overtones when playing high gain stuff. Essential for studio and recording work in particular.

No more overtones above the nut
Panos_Oikonomo, 20.06.2019
Does extremely well what it promises.
It is soft to the touch and fits most 6-string guitars and 4-string basses.
Slides easily enough above and below the nut for noiseless sloppy soloing in the upper frets and crushing rhythm tones without the annoying overtones from above the nut, especially when tuned down a step or two.

Awesome product.
MHuq, 21.11.2020
Does what it's supposed to do. On another note, if you've got a Floyd Rose nut, I would suggest getting the one sized a little larger than this.

the finish is WAY better in real life then it appears in the pictures, i was a bit hesitant to order because there seemed to be imperfections in the pictures but it came out perfect. It definetly gets the job done in a very practical way.

Perfect addition
6 String Outlaw, 29.07.2020
Great little product! It's neat and discreet (colour depending) and looks better than a sock tied round the neck of the guitar.
Really helps with cleaning up your sound and making the note clarity for when i'm tapping or sweeping.
They come in different sizes depending on what guitar you have.
would highly recommend!
