full skirt board, nothing more, nothing less

Didi Stadtstreicher, 22.05.2018
This guitar breathes Rock'n'Roll, you just have to say it like that. The vibe is just right. Like it or hate it! I know, it's only Rock'n'Roll, but I like it !!!!!!
So far the subjectivity, now something more objective:

Sound is absolutely awesome, really nice quacking in the middle as you would expect from a V, the pickups are awesome, it sounds like old Metallica records, but also brings enough dark complexion to slayers, it rocks like hell on Australian-style hard rock reefs and Soloing is all in there too - Slash, Young, Waters, Hammett - everything goes.
The split coil is really there, even if it is nowhere. These bring almost nothing if you play on digital amp, but a lot if it goes on tube. Then these are really useful and for super clean and bony crunch sounds supi.
Otherwise - a volume controller, a tone control, which one actually does not need - enough. Plug in, get started, it's not necessary to play around. The bridge pickup brings it easy. Do not have to mess around. Like I said - like it or hate it.

Workmanship is, let's say, functional, frets could certainly be better sanded, but hey, should not cost 1200 again. You have to save somewhere. The paint is extremely thin and scratched quickly. If you do not like it, keep your fingers away, but it will only benefit the mentioned Rock'n'Roll Vice if it also looks battered accordingly. For my Strat I wait for 2 years in vain for a little wear, in the V was the jerk :) Certainly a consequence of the fact that you should indeed see the wood structure.
I had to adjust it a bit, because I had thicker strings, but now it is top playable, and inexplicably lies on easy, you notice no weight at all, spreads great. You strap it on and it fuses with the body.

Optics: Beautiful! Does not show in any of the Internet photos where ever, how beautiful she looks in real. My bandmates were equally enthusiastic. When I first got her out of the gigbag, I escaped a "wow". I'm really into scratched guitars, but I have to say - the first scratches hurt me.
The optics fits in any case also super to the rock board, which it is. Wood-effect board, you look at it and hear a Marshall stack.

Speaking of Gigbag - unfortunately there is not a suitcase, but the Gigbag is a very good, nice soft Plüschinnenfutter (I've never seen Gigbags before) well padded, nice, there you have a good feeling. If only the problem with the angled head were not there. Because a suitcase would certainly be beautiful. If this were the case, but the guitar koes also 100 ocks more, so you can also buy yourself.

So conclusion: For blues, there are better guitars. Not for Rock'n'Roll. Maybe there are some with more bells and whistles - but no one rocks more;)

Mega-Cool

Thorjet, 18.08.2017
This Flying V Faded 2016 Limited (500 pieces only) is absolutely fantastic.
Looks great, (satin paint ... somewhere between gloss and matt), with very nice grain in the rather dark mahogany wood.
Feels very well, is super-light (like a feather) with a real FAST neck. Also depends on the belt.
Has excellent resonance, one feels it as the notes vibrate through the wood an eternity ... and it LISTENS itself to murder-moderately GOOD.
The DIRTY FINGERS PLUS pickups are VERY HOT; Zero Problemo here through a sound wall to cut ... and ... which is nowhere mentioned (not even on the Gibson homepage!?!?) ... please be careful ... the pickups have COIL TAPPING (!!!). .. if you pull on the TONE and / or VOLUME button then change the Humbuckers in single-coil mode.
This results in a gigantic spectrum of sound and sound variations.
I use my V for Ambient / Alternative / Bluesrock / Klangexperimenten ... it is almost a pity that the Heavy Metal section of the exclusive claim to the Flying V's meanwhile raised.
I remember Dave Davies (Kinks) and Albert (Born Under A Bad Sign) King for the first time. Have also seen both LIVE. Both were VERY IMPRESSIVE.
Mr Hendrix was also the proud owner of 3 Flying V's ... (French LP cover of "Axis: Bold As Love", for example) ... Good enough for Jimi, good enough for me!
And Last But Not Least ... the price / performance ratio here is absolutely unbeatable.
A Limited Edition Flying V (500 pieces worldwide) that looks so fantastic and is so incredibly great to play and so great SINGT for this price is really unique. Really great !
Thanks, Thomann!
Go for it!
Just do it !
Buy now! ..... and have fun!
