Pretty good, I think.

Richard1463, 25.10.2015
I bought this to learn on a year ago so this isn?t an expert review, but I hope it will be useful to people who want learn the violin without disturbing the neighbours.

I play saxophone but I was a complete beginner on violin, so I did some research and I borrowed a friend?s acoustic for a couple of weeks. I didn?t expect to buy online but the electric violins I looked at in the shops were either very cheap or too expensive for me; there was little that seemed good value in between. The Gewa was at a price I was prepared to pay and I ordered it online hoping for the best. When it arrived I was hugely relieved. Overall I?m very pleased and I think it will outlast my beginner stage. That doesn?t make learning any easier unfortunately!

Construction
It is vastly better made than the cheaper e-violins I?d handled and much of the Gewa is assembled from parts made for traditional violins. The bow feels good and there?s a proper case. The headphones are of a reasonable quality. I think that if I upgrade by changing some parts, that won?t be a waste of money. The only weak part of the construction is that the sockets feel a bit too cheap and the mic-out connection on mine can be crackly with some leads.

Sound and use:
It?s difficult for me to judge but the tone of the instrument sounds acceptable to me and I think it will sound better as my technique improves. The electrical output is a bit lower than I expected, on both the line- and mic-level outputs, and there is some hum when amped up to higher volumes. The headphone output level is good, but listening through headphones is a bit awkward because the cable easily gets tangled (surely as with any e-violin) and you don?t have enough hands to adjust things while holding the instrument and bow. During the day I tend to play the violin through an amp and speakers. Unsurprisingly, the violin itself isn?t completely silent but the sound of the bow on the strings, next to your ear, isn?t pleasant so you need a little volume on the amp to mask that. I do use the headphones if practising at night.

Looks:
I chose the white version, which I think looks quite funky. It looks even funkier with a multi-coloured finger guide stuck on the finger board; I know my limitations!

Can what!

Valentin, 14.02.2010
With a (not cheap) acoustic Viomaline the GEWA E-violin can not keep up with sound, of course, but it has many other advantages! I was looking for an alternative to my borrowed acoustic violin, which I unfortunately had to return. A cheap acoustic violin was out of the question, so I decided to buy an electric violin.

With a more or less good (acoustic) amplifier you can get a lot out of this instrument. Clean comes the sound with a little tweaking on the equalizer of a normal violin quite close. And by the amplifier the volume is probably no limits. (One of the great advantages of the E-violin)

Even with effect pedals, you can achieve some interesting sounds. In the distorted range (mjaa, also goes with a violin) you can also make a bit harder music, if you do not overdrive it (gain!).

Included are cases, headphones (directly connected without an amplifier to the instrument), shoulder support, bow and cable (not included in the description, but is not included). For violinists who are looking for some variety or even recommend beginners.
