Fulltone Clyde Wah

High-End Wah Pedal

The Fulltone Clyde WAH-WAH pedal was developed after thorough analysis of Michaels Fuller's 25-piece VOX collection. Since the old VOX parts did not have enough controls, he developed his own pedal housing, which corresponded to his ideas. On the hand-wired circuit board, you'll find a selection of components such as carbon film resistors, NOS (New old Stock) Tropical Fish 0.22 capacitors, GE (General Electric) 0.1 capacitors and, of course, the special coil. Via the so called "Resonace Control" a trim pot on the circuit board lets the bass playback to be regulated according to the personal taste. The "TONE POTI", which is also specially made for Fulltone, has the same characteristics which is also found in the "Icar" Potis of the 60's VOX era. The result can be heard on Michael Fuller's CD "When I feel this way".

An almost perfect Wah pedal
06.05.2014
Everyone knows the usual issues you have with a regular wah - loss of volume, loss of sound, not enough "quack" and yes, always on the search for that Jimi Hendrix Voodoo Child (Slight Return) intro sound. In high hopes I ordered the Fulltone Clyde Standard Wah - took me some time to finally do it, because of the price. Thomann delivered very quickly - as always!

I like the quality of that Wah. It's not only built like a tank, but when you open the back cover you and take a look at the guts, you will only discover clean and professional workmanship, applying only high quality components. BUT that is only one side to the story. Let me put it that way - this Wah will give you a tremendous sweep and quack, and probably you will experience for the first time what it sounds like when your Wah sound is equal to the non Wah sound and when it cuts through the mix like a knife through warm butter. However, compared to my old Vox the Fulltone sounds a little bit sterile, plus it really sounds trebly in the pedal down position. Even after having adjusted the internal trimpot the highs were still audible. This means I have to wathc my step with this thing! Playing it more in the heel position gives at least some warmer results. Regarding the buffer, i couldn't really detect what it does. At least my Roger Mayer Axis Fuzz sounds fantastic with this Wah. Further, it doesn't colour the sound at all, but it gets a little noisy the more pedals you attach. It also sounds better in battery use. It's difficult to judge, because also other high quality Wahs have their issues. I would definitely recommend trying this pedal, but you should spend some time with it.

The best Wah Wah
Andy1979, 07.05.2016
Yes. It's the best one. I've try and buy Crybaby, Vox and many more but i never get the way where you feel that's THE sound. From Clapton, Hendrix, The Edge,...the best modern-vintage wah pedal.
The buffer settings is very usefull when used with a fuzz pedal. Friendly with other pedal.

It would be fair to say that the development of the wah-wah pedal has been somewhat experimental over the years.
