great guitar with great sound and quality..its not chambered at all so its a lot heavier than the new LP models out there...I also made a comparison with some old LP models one 78' deluxe and a 1990 standard and its so close to those ..the onliy negative is that this one comes with a gigbag and not hard case though...this is the best single cut guitar you can buy for 1000 bucks..fgn lc 10 = 2500 euro les paul..nuff said :)

Clean processing, great sound!

The FGN LC 10 is more or less an (excellent!) Copy of an old-fashioned Gibson Les Paul Custom, with one big exception: the fingerboard is made of rosewood and not of ebony. If you do not like this, you can buy the LC 20 for a few hundred euros extra. Generally, LS / LC 10 differ from the 20 series in the following:

- varnishing (10: polyester vs. 20: acrylic)
- Pickup (10: FGN vs.20: Seymour Duncan)
Apart from the LC 20, all other models have a rosewood fingerboard.
Also the more expensive LS 20 have only one maple veneer for the optics. Below is a simple maple without a flame.

Wood, hardware and workmanship:

As with the original, both the carcass and the ceiling (as with vintage customs) are made of mahogany. According to the FGN site, the corpus has glued 2 pieces of mahogany together. At the back of my guitar, you can see a straight line across the entire back, which speaks for two parts, directly at the cutaway. However, I can not check whether it is the opaque paintwork.
The polyester lacquer is in no way tacky or unnatural. Whether the surcharge to the LC 20 with acrylic lacquer is worth, I can not judge. You can not get nitro with any guitar from FGN.

The neck is also made of mahogany, the fingerboard consists of moderately dark rosewood.
Feels great for me, compared to the Slim Taper but once again a little narrower.

The pickups are a self-creation of FGN with rare AlNiCo 8 magnets. AlNiCo 8 is supposed to be a ceramic alternative, but here in the LC 10 they sound really old-fashioned. I found them much better than the Seymour Duncan's in the LC 20. Very warm, clear and very responsive to fingers and amplifiers. There is definitely no need to change! On the Internet, however, one can read from time to time that the pickups started to whistle after a few months. So far I had no problems.

The hardware comes from Gotoh and feels great. At the footbridge, the gilding is now farewell. However, this would have to happen with guitars of any price class sooner or later.

Overall, the guitar is great. I do not notice anything that does not justify the price tag. But so mercilessly perfect as on the Internet always read, the FGN is defnitiv not:
The grip boards (Pearloid as in the case of every normal Les Paul also, Nix with Mother of Pearl!) Were well visible with filling material worked, with the binding on the 9th waist a little black color of the point around it distributed.
And the weight you have to like: No weight reduction. It is hard. Bockchwer. And therefore also good steglastig.
After a few months of daily use, I also believe that the pick-up switch will not live forever. Can be but also a feeling.

I've played loads of guitars at Thomann, including Epiphones, Vintage, Harley Bentons and Gibsons for this price class. With none has it by the haptics alone already so "Klick" made as with the FGN! It feels great from front to back.

Sound:
I have consciously decided against the LC 20 and for the LC 10. The sound was clearly better. The FGN pickups are really great, I would buy them for other guitars at any time. Whether the rosewood fingerboard gives the guitar more bass, I may not confirm. It pushes enormous, yes. But it is never muddy. Also not with higher Zerre.
And I finally understood why everyone loves the Paulas: Sustain! This guitar sings tremendously. No comparison to my old SG. Whether this is now patented by CFS, I do not know. I have not even noticed the curved frets when playing.
Also Clean delivers them beautifully sounding tones. One must never expect something all too wiry. There are still humbuckers without split function.

My guitar was equipped with 50s-Wiring. You can vary the sound wonderfully with volume and (!) Soundpots, without having ever connected a pedal.

Ex-factory was the intonation perfect (my guitar came from the warehouse, I guess even without setting of Thomann), the strings okay (me a bit too high), but both E-strings lay on the way to the tailpiece on the bridge . Read but easy to regulate. Is not bad, many probably like this. For me this is wrong.

Conclusion:

Finally, I can recommend the guitar and generally every model of FGN. Great gameplay, beautiful looks and an amazing sound are just fun! For the money you could have a suitcase instead of the rather mediocre gigbag.
