A guitar that makes you want to play it.

Just a customer, 27.02.2017
I guess a big question on most people?s mind is ?is this as good as a ?real? strat??. Well I don?t know. I?ve never owned one and the few I?ve played were a long time ago and probably not representative of what?s available now. I have other very nice low to medium priced guitars, such as an Ibanez ART320 (which also has a very good independent rep on the web reviews), and although that?s a very different beast, this guitar stands up to it in terms of feel and quality.

I can tell you that I also have a standard squire strat bought back in the mid 90's and although I can't really knock that guitar for it's price as it helped out a poor student as I was at the time, this is in a different league.

So I needed a single coil strat sound for my guitar recording ?pallet? and I didn?t want to spend too much, but I wanted something good enough. I can tell you that this guitar sounds like a strat. To my ears, it has that single coil twang on the bridge and that sort of ?clucky? sound on the neck. Absolutely right. I already did some recording with it and the intonation and tone sit beautifully in a mix both rhythm and lead. This will probably be my go-to lead instrument from now on.

The ?duncan designed? pickups are great. They sound very clear and are very low noise for single coils.
The neck feels great and there are no nasty unfinished frets or anything like that. It?s silky smooth to play. The sustain is very good and I can drop the action low enough for my preference, although it was playable out of the box. Machine heads are solid and accurate. Bridge saddles are a little weird. One screw foot on the low E managed to unwind itself out of the saddle while I was playing. Very odd, but I suppose it may have been because I just adjusted the action and it may have not been fully touching the bridge and the vibrations worked it loose. Otherwise no complaints.

As for the finishing on the guitar. Beautiful. Faultless. The maple neck has a nicely figured grain too. Aesthetically I really like the black on black body against the maple neck. I?ve always wanted the vintage fat headstock too. I suppose because of all my 70s guitar heroes I grew up on.

I've not touched or even used the tremolo. I never got on with tremolos, so I can't help there.

So indeed a guitar that makes you want to play it. I?m really happy with it and already have ?wasted? may hours with it. ;-)

Good budget strat

15.06.2016
This is a well put together strat, I like the all black body with maple neck. The pickups are good quality and it holds its tuning well. Classic strat tones with the bridge pickup not being too shrill. At least on a par with mex fender strats in my opinion. The only negative I would mention is that it has one of the skinny trem blocks which I am not keen on, however this is a relatively minor issue and the guitar is good value for the money. Recommended.
