Fender Precision bass Roger Waters Signature

Damien F., 05.04.2012
Not particularly fan of Roger Waters or even Pink Floyd, I bought this bass for the combination of maple touch, black body color, and Seymour Duncan SPB-3 microphone.
Basically, it's a Mexican Steve Harris (except the easel)!
The handle, varnished, is the good log PB57 style, with a radius even flatter. The grip can therefore be tricky for someone who comes from a Jazz bass or an Ibanez SDGR!
The maple key is also varnished.
The signature of Roger Waters is discreetly affixed to the back of the head.
The mechanics hold the agreement very well.
The brass nut is for me (but it is very personal) a more undeniable: indeed, it allows to play La, D and Vac solids which have almost the same sound as these same notes fretted. I know some people do not like it, preferring to have a clear difference between the empty note and the same fretted note.
The handle body junction is perfect, the handle positioning without play in the neck-pocket.
Under the black one-ply pickguard, shielded by an aluminum sheet, the electronic cavity is protected by an insulating paint. A ground wire typically connects one of the knobs to the bridge.
The sticker on the pickguard can be removed without any problems.
I replaced the easel and buttons, black, by the same chrome, to have a harmony in the fittings because the mechanical chrome.
You can set the action very low without frieze without difficulty.
And the sound, then?
When empty, the bass sounds clear and slamming.
Once connected, you realize the impressive output level of the SPB-3! Attention, I have saturated DI boxes entry level, where a PB RI57 did not create a problem!
Although it is Mexican, it does not sound at all like a Classic '50s, for example: it's more violent (SPB-3 oblige), we find the tremendous treble and powerful treble of the Steve Harris, but the mediums are Well present also, one should not be impressed by the theoretical frequency curve of the SPB3.
Despite everything, it remains a PB that we recognize from the first riff :-)
The tone control, unsurprising on a PB, has a very significant influence on the sound.
This bass is rather light, and as it is well balanced, you can play standing for hours!
It is delivered with a cover "Deluxe" very pretty, but a little light anyway!

In short, for me who plays blues, rock and hard rock, and who does not like to break my head with adjustments, it is the ideal bass: simple, effective, powerful, plug'n'play .

Total hyped

Neuenbassler, 18.02.2015
I had so far only an absolute beginner bass, which was actually quite ok and wanted to have something sensible. The reviews were already quite good and I can only confirm that. The bass is well in the hand (I have also a reasonable leather belt, which I eh anyone recommend) and the sound is a poem. Satter and clean sound, which also my music colleagues enthusiastically.
(A short note, as this is not described in detail): The Roger Waters sticker (The Wall Design) is on a protective film, which is applied to the pickguard, so that you can remove it completely - the pickguard does not look nice in time Shiny)
