Fender Passport Mini, Exceeding Expectations
TalZ, 15.08.2015
If you want a low cost, hassle free street amp with a decent size speaker and microphone and instrument inputs, here it is.

The Fender Passport Mini has exceeded expectations, proving its worth during several gigs. As expected, it has the flexibility of battery operation, light enough to easily carry in the same hand which carries the bag for mic, cables, and mic stand, freeing the other hand for the guitar. Mobility to the max, a 6.5 inch speaker capable of big sound, microphone and instrument inputs, with tone and reverb on the microphone and enough settings on the guitar input for all sounds from classical to metal.

Where its exceeded expectations is in volume, flexibility and durability. Regarding volume, with some attention paid to the control settings of both inputs, it sounds good both outdoors and an indoor space larger than one might think. It has a third instrument input that's good for taking the output of another small amp, opening up stereo territory and greater tonal variety.

And durability... twice the amp has fallen big time, my own fault, onto hard floor and pavement from a height of a meter or more. A mighty crash is heard, the battery compartment door flies off and all batteries spill out and go rolling away. How does it still work? Don't know, but gather up the batteries, stuff 'em in, and it's fine.

If you want more power and flexibility...

Two of these amps give you more inputs and greater stereo separation by moving them apart, at less cost than the two speaker guitar plus microphone Roland competition. Lacking a full size ouput jack (there are mini jack ports for headphone and aux) is this champ's only flaw, so if an electric jack is available, and I'm using a guitar with a pickup, I use an old solid state Crate CA30 to take the guitar input and then output to the Fender. Defies explanation the sound coming out of these, and the Fender also handles input from a tube amp. And yes, it works well as a monitor.

It does have a USB output so using mixer or computer there are more options, but that's not part of the street mobility picture. We're talking hop on and off a bus or train here, and walk the rest of the way to the gig.

Only one place do I give it 4 instead of 5 stars, and that's being a Fender solid state amp it does match the best to a Fender electric guitar like a Strat. There's less tonal variety with the acoustic settings, whether one uses an instrument mic or pickup line, and guitar with and without pickup. I have found the most decent sound coming with an acoustic electric using the Twin Reverb preset with a modest effect level. And comfort may lie in the Fender Fuse software. The tuner and carry handle are nice touches.

Good little amp
shootnix, 19.07.2017
First of all, this amp is very versatile. This is a swiss-army knife for a busking musician. =) It has an instrument input, which is obvious. Microphone input, which is cool. And an AUX input which is great.
The amp lacks Bluetooth connection, but this is not so important thing.
Sounds good, effects work well. Has a built-in tuner for guitar and headphones output for silent practice.
Presets are good for both, electric and acoustic guitars.
Now a few cons. First, the amp doesn't have a tone knob at the guitar section. All voices can be tweaked only in the special application on the computer. And this application has a huge problem on macOS.
And the second, the amp has a very inconvenient battery tray, which annoys me every time I need to put my batteries out.
And the third, a small one, this amp uses C-size batteries, so if you can't get batteries of this type, you definitely can use adapter AA-to-C.
But, for the money, it's a goot thing. I'm happy with my new little fender amp.
