JH600

Guy7649, 19.02.2015
I originally bought this guitar as a workhorse to drive my Roland GR55 and VG99 rig so I wasn't so worried about using its own pickups. However, it's own pickups do sound reasonably good with the right strings - EKXL120s. The guitar is fitted with my favorite tremolo block, the Kahler. However, there seems to be a quality control issue here because the threads on the fine tuners are of poor tolerance such that they exhibit significant thread 'wobble', with the result that if they are moved by the palm of the hand (easily done), the tuning is affected. High quality precision threads would solve this but Kahler choose to ignore the problem ! This drives me mad. That asside, the JH600 s a very stable instrument and the through body neck most definately contributes to this. The neck feels smooth and quick; being a mahogony fingerboard offers a slicker feel to the JH600's younger brother the JH200 (Rosewood fingerboard). The nutlock of the JH600 could have been mounted 0.4mm lower (same goes for JH200) which would improve intonation when playing on the 1st 2 frets but that pales into insignificance with my main gripe; the frets (certainly on the instrument I bought) are made of a soft metal which wear rather quickly. Mine needed its first leveling after just a year. Full refretting is required after 3 years of moderate use. In contrast, my JH200 shows no signs of wear. go figure. The balance of the instrument is very nice for me, and significantly better than the JH200.

Heavy as light

Charly-NOH, 30.07.2014
I've been playing a Charvel Model 5 for over 20 years, Superstrat form, neck with a tremolo tremolo and post-built EMGs.
Many other guitars (heavy guitars from BC Rich, Jackson etc., mostly with Floyd Rose) which I have played during this time
the Charvel usually could not reach the water. Besides, I was already so used to the Kahler that I with the Floyd Rose
never got along properly.
When I became aware of the JH600, I knew immediately that I have to absolutely test this.
Thomann thanks, guitar in stock and a day later at my home.
The processing of the JH600 is exemplary. Bundle-strings are absolutely fantastic.
The neck is rather on the thinner side (therefore the knuckle on the neck plate for stabilization) but
you get used to it very quickly.
Without an amplifier I was a bit sobered. Compared to the Charvel sounded the JH600 much wirier and not so bold,
which is partly due to the thinner neck.
At the amplifier (JVM410, H + K-Switchblade, heavy sound with not too much gain) but it looked quite different.
The JH600 produces pressure right below, which is also controllable with the bass regulator and does not tend to mash.
High frequencies are very balanced, aggressive but never obtrusive.
Over the Halston pickup, a melodic line is eternally long. And again I must praise the Bunding / attitude
since despite the low string position all the notes sound crystal clear, without snares and partial vibrations.
For clean things, however, I would prefer my charvel or even better a guitar without EMGs.

Conclusion:
Who plays heavy things, stands on EMGs and with the Kahler comes clear (see among other things in the net various Kahler vs. Floyd entries)
for which this can be the ultimate guitar.

Have fun with yourself!
