Bought this as an upgrade to an entry level Cort after 10 years of playing it. While I'm mainly focused on playing rock/metal riffs, I still chose this guitar with the Floyd Rose for its versatility and in hopes that it would give additional motivation to learn better soloing. And, man, it did deliver...
1. The setup. The guitar was properly setup straight from the box (was even in tune!), the action is super low. I expected it being much better than my older guitar, but didn't really know how big of an impact it gives to the playing.. The neck is superb, very quick and easy to play, action is low throughout the neck, so riffing is much easier, tapping techniques are significantly easier to deliver than before. And the Floyd Rose is super fun -- it holds the tune perfectly, all the dive-bombs and squeals it enables are super fun, meanwhile playing rhythm riffs are not affected at all (as I've read that many people notice that and often find as a con), string muting haven't changed at all. Love it! Re-tuning requires some work and tools, but there are plenty of guides of how to do it quickly. Additionally, the springs for the tremolo on the back side of the guitar are easily accessible through the holes, so there is no need to unscrew the whole panel, so minor adjustments can be quite quick.
2. Pickups. I'm not an expert regarding pickups, couldn't really tell them apart on a blind listen, but these are noticeably of higher output than my old ones. Not much difference for my metal tones, but the clean sound really surprised me. I really had no expectations for clean sounds, but the dynamics and crispness of all the notes were immediately noticeable (compared with single coil pickups). I'm sure I will be playing cleans more than ever.
Overall, I got more than I was expecting, for me, this guitar feels like driving a sports car instead of an ordinary car -- playing is much easier, hence, allows me to play stuff faster; all the riffs sound cleaner; and it feels like it will be much easier for me to progress than before.
