Epiphone Casino NA

Semi-acoustic guitars

John Lennon played almost exclusively on a Epiphone Casino semi-acoustic from about '65 with the Beatles. Originally, the guitar had a Sunburst finish when in 1967, during the course of the psychedelic fashion heyday, it was completely psyched out, only to be then freed from all colour only one year later. The result was the present-day "Natural Finish", which can be admired in the film "Let It Be", and later on in "Imagine".

In contrast to most current semi-acoustics, the Casino does not have a sustain block, so the top can resonate much more freely. This makes the casino more susceptible to feedback, with distorted lead sounds being rather more delicate, and the clean or crunch sounds are unique at that: Fabulous dynamics with a good and proper piece of wood! Simple Beatles sounds are easy (even George Harrisson often played on a casino), but also for blues guitarists, the Casino could be their guitar for life!

Great Guitar

24.03.2015
After visiting the Beatles museum in Liverpool and seeing this guitar in one of the exhibits, I had to have this guitar! The guitar sounds amazing, its got a really nice "fat" sound and plays really well. It also sounds amazing acoustically as it is a hollowbody. Would highly recommend buying this guitar!

There is something to do with ...

The Epiphone Casino is not a lesser guitar than the one who once played John Lennon and I can imagine why he chose this guitar, because the one can do quite a bit, and that despite their low price of straight Times 475EUR.

This semi-acoustic guitar has the advantage over other guitars from the same category in my opinion that it is equipped with P 90 pickups and that it has renounced a sustainblock. This is now especially about the sound, because the P 90 pickups provide a great sound. Here you can find sounds between snappy and twiggy up to fat and full and the lack of the sustainblock can only be played at low volume is just a rumor.

One thing, however, in advance: for metal this guitar is by no means suitable. However, if you like poppy or "roky" bluesy sound, it will come to its full cost. I play them in combination with a Fender Blues Deluxe amp and am particularly enthusiastic about the clean sound, which sounds extremely organic. When setting the rattle sound you have to have some patience with the fine adjustment, especially if you use the guitar as a rhythm guitar. Another advantage of this guitar is that it is very light by missing the sustainblock and thus sounds really nice hollow.

This is not to be a bad thing because, unlike similar guitars, the hollow body helps to create a very authentic sound, which naturally deserves the title of vintage. The guitar produced in the Far East is hardly noticeable and therefore can not be judged as negative. I am not a lawn in this field and have myself played more expensive guitars, tested and also at home and can recommend this guitar without reservation.

If you like to deal with guitars and their uniqueness, come here fully at its expense. With a little patience, you can learn all the facets of this great guitar, and so you can even have a guitar for just under 500EUR even found a guitar for life. So also John Lennon ...
