A great classic in the pocket size!
OliK, 30.08.2013
A classic since 1966. Reissued and improved. Small, with congestion LED, power supply and true bypass. Still a sound with its own muscular character and admitted my favorite fuzz. Provided the correct battery type supplies the current. As shown in Fig.

The blue silicone fuzz face is delivered in a folding box with folded English instructions and registration card. A battery is not present.

The processing is MXR / Dunlop-specific, as always very neat. It all works well without scratching wobbling, or failures.

The front-end wire drain on the battery clip is still to be improved since pressure is normally exerted by the housing on the exiting battery leads. This can lead to long-term cable breakage and thus failure. A lateral vein drop seems to be generally more unproblematic.

Two controls and a pedal switch are a manageable panel. Very nice is the mini-LED and the very bright status LED. The LED, also suitable for blue silicone fuzz face, is also blue.

The output regulator should be adjusted so that it "fills" the ampinput from the signal level. In my opinion, more attitudes do not sound quite convincing. The level should then be controlled with the guitar volume. Clearly, the "fuzziness" and the resulting top tone density also change. Ultimately simply try out what in what constellation seems suitable for which piece of music.

Once you've hit the Fuzz Face you do not want to miss the small, round, blue thing.

The Fuzzfacesound is generally a character in itself and can be used as a musical instrument. The Fuzz Face has, in my estimation, always something from a heavily overloaded speaker and reminds me something about a "collapsing" 5 or 15Watt combo. The sound is warm wide and slow. - Slow ?! Yes! The sound has more "violin" or "blaster" like a "slower attack". The sound is so nice when you play the right technique, that you suddenly play different things than usual and you can hardly stop playing this sound character! Caution hot and greasy!

Nutbush City Limits and Eric Johnson's Cliffs-of-Dover sound pass a simple! :-) That is, the Fuzz Face is more on wholesome overtones, than on slightly crooked sounds specialized and therefore also very nice at tones in high positions.

With me, the FFM1 with a controlled, firm but not rigid attack brings the best sound. A rather loose, light attack then brings too much disturbing bZZZzzzzz ... The blue FFM1 sounds with Les Paul, Tele- and Stratocaster. Where the Les Paul in the basses wants to be well controlled. Otherwise it can be with the Fuzzface, depending on the amp but something "undifferentiated". With a Les Paul you get almost fat lead synths on the bass strings. - Also an interesting, if not certainly for every usable flavors. Surely, however, as the small round FF is an inspiration source.

My conclusion - An improved classic for the handbag - The small blue Fuzz Face reminds me of a camping gas connection from time to time. The part makes fun without end and actually belongs in every well-managed guitarist's household. - A classic, rightly so!

Fuzzface 2.0
Braineaters, 06.12.2013
I wanted to integrate some FF in my setup for some time, but the interchanged connections, the missing status LED, format / size and the missing True Bypass have always left me. And now - as if someone had listened to me - all these things, which were correct but impractical under vintage aspects, were switched off. The sound is just like the "big" FF typical singing and scratchy at the same time. I use it to boost the lead sound of my ENGL Fireball and to "pollute" it, it immediately sounds more lively and easy (unconsciously) in its amplitudes - so it should be.

Conclusion: Buy!
