Stunning audio tool

As A DPA user I am very aware of the quality they produce so it was no surprise that the 4080BM was in the same league. I bought 4 units on spec as I needed to get a solution to a nagging problem that hinders the use of 'tie clip' stlye mics when used in live PA environments which is gain before feedback (GBF).All the lavalier clip mics I have tried all suffer from this and a lot of EQ slashing has to be done to get a satisfactory result although somewhat compromised. Most are fine for the Video/Tv audio capture role but are a difficult item when it comes to using at conference with PA especially in close proximity. As clients often ask for them we have to oblige against our better judgement and the alternative use of a headset type, however the 4080 is a different beast. Its frequency bump is boosted in the high mid region with a tailored frequency cut below 100hz and when we tested it on a channel that had EQ set for a DPA D:Fine headset the result was stunning in both quality and gain and frankly it was hard to believe this was a tie clip mic. The design is clever with a rotating capsule that allows a fast attachment to left or right tie/lapel or even t shirt and the unit comes with the cable neatly locked into the clip mechanism to isolate any cable noise which incidently is virtually nil (DPA are known for their silent cable assemblies). We went for the suggested 8" distance from the mouth which worked well with no drop off as the speaker turned his head, the 4080 also comes with a white foam pop shield along with its prefitted black one which gives it a discreet use at wedding venues for video and PA capture of ceremonies etc.bonus!

A colleague on the event heard it being tested and was impressed enough to ask if he could borrow it for use in a breakout room. (made sure I got it back!)

Best buy of the year and it arrived in a couple of days of purchase so efficient all round.

Il me fallait un micro-cravate pour réaliser des dizaines d'interviews. C'est chose faite et je peux donc faire un petit compte-rendu.
Les + :
_Bonne isolation des sons environnants grâce à son diagramme cardioïde.
_Orientation de la capsule facile.
_look sympa.
_construction solide.

Les - :
_A ce prix on a un son tout juste correct : beaucoup de post-traitement nécessaire pour arriver à un niveau de qualité proche de ce qu'on peut entendre à la télévision.
_Un peu gros (mais pas moche).
_Un peu cher.
