Test Digitech RP 1000 vs VOX Tonelab LE

DORA Music, 22.03.2010
Hi guys! What I would like to have from you, I now give you: The duel of the two amp modelers Digitech RP 1000 and VOX Tonelab SE.

Service:
Both are extremely logical; (Almost) without instruction. Digitech's is only in English; I've been using the VOX for a couple of years, but I'm not sure if it's a good thing (VCR), the Vox (Vox) and the Vox (Vox) are a great way to get the most out of the Vox 1: 1, it was 1 - 1 at the end of the game.

Features:
The RP 1000 has about 3x as many amp models, speaker simulations and effect possibilities. The RP 1000 also has a Harmomizer, with which you can play every certain key with two-thirds, Sext, Quart, Quint Up or Down two-part - with a disadvantage: he "wobbles" something; Especially with clean sounds. So if you are looking for many possibilities ... 2: 1 for Digitech.

Sound:
Here the spirits separate. While the Digitech RP 100 always somehow artificially and scratchingly comes, the VOX Tonelab sounds almost like a real amp! (Professionals, watched: I now go from a top 40 band, not from rock music, yes?) Compensation; 2: 2.

Processing:
Both are very massive; The sound laboratory feels even more robust than the Rock Player 1000; For the RP 1000, the massive front section and the larger height at level-ground dance music mean that the danger is not so great that someone steps up as they dance. Draw 3: 3.

Total:
As a summary, the following can be said: Who is looking for the many possibilities, will rather opt for the Digitech RP 1000. However, if you prefer the sound - like me - you have to choose the VOX Tonelab.

A tip from Thomann / guitar & bass: The Palmer PDI-09 clears with the scratchy sound of the Digitech ... try it is worthwhile (inappropriately)!

Flexible solution for live use & recording

Mikonaut, 08.02.2010
I was looking for a multieffect that would replace my "treadmines". I have a Marshall top section and did not intend to realize my sound only with modeling, but I am very flexible with the so-called 4-cable method (send / return loop-in necessary at the amp).

On the one hand I have presets without any amp simulation by the RP-1000 (called "Amp-Loop") tinkered and on the other hand I like to use a preset with a gemodelte amp, where the preliminary stage of my top is bypassed, the 4-cable method makes something possible. Here I deactivate then only the box simulation, since I have a 4x12er.

I find the two preset modes very practical: In the so-called preset mode, each of the 10 switch buttons activates a preset, ie 10 presets per bank. There are five presets per bank available in pedalboard mode. The footswitches 1-5 switch between presets, while the switches 6-10 can switch individual effects on / off within a preset, as in the case of "single repeaters". I switch between the modes from time to time, but I tend to be more in pedalboard mode.

Unfortunately it is not possible to change the channel on my amp. A Boss GT-10 could sowas, whereby however not synonymous with every top part works, as far as I know.

I am satisfied with the sound so far. Lastly I'm with the part for recording directly into the mixer and the result I felt as very passable.

I am anything but an effectguru, but the handling is quite simple. From nested menus you are spared and has very fast access to the parameters. I can only recommend taking a look at the manual (available as a PDF at Digitech), to get an insight in advance.

I can recommend the part very much, the best in the bundle with the matching, also very recommendable case of Thomann buy, which saves about 30 EUR :-)
