Very Durable and Great Processor

Ease of Use: I actually have the RP1000. It is very easy to navigate and edit the presets, the display is large, bright and easy to read on a dark stage. The manual is simple. I play in a rock cover band doing all kinds of material from clean to metal. It covers them all if you know your amplifiers and cabs and know how to go about building tone. The factory presets pretty much suck but they always do no matter what MFX you choose.
Sound: I initiaaly tried using a tube combo with this in the clean channel but couldn't find my sound and I almost returned it. I started using the PA instead and was much better but still lacked some warmth. I ended up buying a Tech 21 Powerengine 60, which is essentially a 60 watt powered monitor with a 12" Celestion guitar speaker and no tweeter or horn. So for the price of a decent tube combo, I now have a fleet of amps and cabs, and they all sound just like they are supposed to. The Tech 21 supplies clean uncolored power loud enough to hold it's own onstage. I use Fender mods for my cleans, Marshall and Mesa mods for my dirty stuff. I love the tap delay. The chouruses sound good but kinda boost the volume as well when you hit it. Compression works very well. There's a ton of different distortions. Some sound fantastic while others are lacking. Reverb is cool with several different options including Fender Twin Spring and Lexicon. The harmonizer FX are ok at best. They sound kinda fake and digital. Overall this thing rocks though and has definitely improved my live performances.
Reliability & Durability: It's built like a tank. I have no issues with it at all in this respect. I have gigged with it and I will continue too. One note... The FX edit grid is recessed into the unit by about an inch or so to protect the rather flimsy plastic parameter knobs I'm guessing. Anything spilled on it would pool up and your RP1000 would be kaput!
Overall Impression: I play in a rock cover mand. This covers ALL my tones and FX needs. I've been playing for 30 years and have been thru alot of gear. I got this rig so I wouldn't have to haul a heavy tube amp around everywhere. If you are looking for immediate tome gratification this aint for you. I have 15 presets built and it took me 4 months of tweaking and band rehearsals to create them. I use this in pedalboard mode which essentially allows every preset to become a separate pedalbord scene, with different amps and FX combinations in each one that can be turned on and off just like a stompbox pedalboard, without the dancing. Another reason I bought it.

Digitech RP 1000

I bought this processor last year and I've used it for recordings and live performances. In the past I had multi effects from Vox or Zoom but this one it was the best by far. Here's what I liked about it :
- you have 10 presets in front of you without changing the bank.
- it's very easy to work with. You don't have to spend days reading the manual.
- it has many good sounding distortion pedals suitable for any genre. I'm using it with my tube amp (amp/cab sim off) and sounds great.
- modulations, delays and reverbs are the best that I've heard and is worth buying this unit just for those. Reverbs are Lexicon licensed and sound very close to the real unit. It has a ton of modulation types, controllable by the expression pedal and the digitech whammy sounds very convincing. The delays are very nice, you have the basic ones like : analog, tape, lo-fi, ping pong..etc and covers everything you may want.
- the amp/cab sim are pretty decent but I prefer to use a real amp. One time I had to play through a mixer and sounded ok..better than a guitar software. I think they're more suitable for recording.
- the built in audio interface works very well. Has direct monitoring, ASIO and even XLR outputs for studio monitors. Through the headphones output you can hear your guitar in real time and also the sounds from your computer (backing track, metronome...etc) so you can record without latency.
- the 4 cable method can be used very easy if you want distortion from your amp and the stomp loop is very useful if you want to attach some pedals.
- with the stereo output you have the possibility to use 2 amps. I did that using a ping-pong delay, a stereo chorus and the sound was huge.

Cons :
- it can't change presets instantly like pedals but I'm used to it now. Is not a huge delay but it's there.
- the power adapter seems quite fragile. I recommend another one for backup.

Overall it's a great processor, very well built, useful for many things and has a good price.
I recommend it.
