So far the finest of the best

In the search for a new analog delay rather randomly stumbled over the Diamond Quantum Leap.
There is an almost inexhaustible selection of smaller and larger trampel boxes, which deliver analogue delaysounds (for me also with modulation).
If you are looking for an EH Deluxe Memory Man, you can use the EH Deluxe Memory Man. Good echo, modulation ok, but overload and synonymous somewhat bitchy overall behavior before the amplifier let me then but once again look out for an alternative hold.
I used exactly five minutes to test - then the Diamond has made all the delays, which were ever nailed on my board, forgotten.
Not only the operation and functionality are extra-class - the features and possibilities are very extensive; I do not want to be too detailed here - the very good manual has not for free 10 pages and is in DIN A4.
For example, Possibilities like the LFO Speed ??or Pitch Ramp by Tap / Hold-function (with hold on 1/4 for the LFOs) can be changed. But above all the sound is world-class. The device also shines particularly in front of an amp; Chorus and flangers of the Diamond are the best I've heard so far. They are never set unnaturally, even in a more extreme setting, but as if they simply belonged to them. Very harmonious and accentuated according to their function - but they do not seem to constrict the normal sound of the guitar at all. The modulation in the delay itself sounds also first-class-there was in contrast, for example, in the DMM hardly any room between "goes so" and "sounds totally damn".
The Diamond or the Delaysektion of the same can even be used well before distorted Amp, so that one actually still has a delay and not everything only in oscillating Gewabber degenerates.
Also, the individual modes are very well coordinated with each other - you can leave all the controls quasi on a setting and do not have to adjust eg with MIX or WIDTH.
MMn only optimization option: In order to be able to use all the sound engineering possibilities on the stage seamlessly - ie switch between the modes such as Chorus, Flanger Delay etc., there is the Toggleswitch, which is designed as a pushbutton / changer. If you wear narrow shoes, you can theoretically also walk through the modes and do not have to bend. It is, however, in the zeal of the fight, of course, the danger of killing the diamond from the board (and that would be a pity). Therefore, the quantum leap would be the incarnation The egg-laying wool milk under the delay / modulation-like effects.

Comparison test: Memory Lane Jr., Quantum Leap, Vapor Trail and Carbon Copy Bright

AudioPhil, 18.04.2017
I ordered quite a few pedals for the test in search of another delay.

It should be an analogue or analogue hybrid pedal. Sonic goal: warm and - what a miracle - "analogue" with the ability to lay large sound tapestries, yet with enough definition of the repetitions, so as not to drain in the band context.

The test candidates:
1. Diamond Memory Lane Jr
2. Diamond Quantum Leap
3. Seymour Duncan Vapor Trail
4. MXR Carbon Copy Bright

Comparison pedals (digital):
-> TC Alter Ego: great emulations of Echorec and DMM
-> Digitech Obscura Altered Delay: class clean to "broken" tape simulation
-> Digitech (Hardwire) DL-8: overall very good algorithms
-> TC Flashback: good all-rounder, most know

As a result, I was particularly surprised by the Vapor Trail, which sounded very, very good, did not rustle, was great to use and has an effect insert, but above all offers great analog-warm repeats, which nevertheless sound well in context (= defined ) are.
Absolute price-performance tip! For me personally, unfortunately something too "dark", so tonal deep created.

The two Diamond pedals are definitely in a class of their own!
The big bang is definitely the Quantum Leap with its incredible range of functions (two delay types, flanger, chorus, comb filter) and the great ramping mode. Sonically, one of the delays is VERY bleak (with additional transient-smearing). This space-chorus-like modulation creates huge reverb sound universes. Perfect for ambient stuff!
The second delay of Quantum Leap is similar to that of the more defined Memory Lane, but is also set slightly lower. The comb filter is superfluous in my view, chorus and flanger range from moderate to crass.
The pity is that with the more universal, more defined delay, the tap function will NOT work because the button controls the time / pitch ramp. Super annoying.

The Memory Lane Jr. is almost "boring" in the function comparison, but in reality does everything right! :-) Great, warm, but very defined delays in the tonal just right frequency range ... not too narrowband ... Tap function, up to 1200 ms (!!) Delay time and practical divisors (quarter, eighth, dotted Eighths, triplets) - everything on board what you need.
The modulation is more "moderate" than the very three-dimensional Quantum Leap, but not worse.
Overall, the ML Jr. works perfectly in the context of other instruments, but also sounds solo "big enough" enough. Thumbs up!

The most disappointing pedal was the Carbon Copy Bright by MXR.
In short, I have to say:
-> the pedal is rustling hard. Yeah yeah, bucket brigade and so on and so forth. But hey: REALLY it's rustling heavily. Twice as strong as the Vapor Trail.
-> It swallows repetitions: the last delays just drip off. The Vapor Trail does not do this. Ok, the hybrid QL and ML Jr. are doing this a bit, but much later, and they are rushing zero.
-> Now the killer: it just does not sound good. The repetitions are extremely narrowband in the CC Bright set in a higher midrange. So you make quite sharp "peck - peck" in contrast to the warmer "pock - pock" of the other pedals. Very disappointing, especially to the called course!

It is possible that my test candidate had an error, but nothing else indicates. It worked. I assume the CC Bright should sound exactly as it sounds - and that's not very good, in my view.

I finally kept the Diamond Memory Lane Jr. for the reasons mentioned above. Yes, it's pretty expensive, but it's worth every penny.
The 1200 milliseconds give you every conceivable freedom, the tapping function in conjunction with the note value dividers is great and - most importantly - it sounds simply outstanding.

If you want to spend less, do not need tapping and look for something a bit darker sounding, the cheap Vapor Trail is suggested. Very good at this the "in time" flashing delay poti!
