a little history

Francois G., 13.05.2011
The G12M Greenback, the G12H Greenback, the G12H Heritage (Greenback too) and the G12M Heritage (Greenback too) are often confused.
G12M = 25watts in 98db (the original)
G12H30 PreRola Greenback = 30watts in 97 or 98db, it is the old model reproduced in the version Heritage.
G12H Heritage in 30watts at 100db
G12M Heritage in 20watts at 96db
For the record, the Greenback have become a series of various HP, close and derived from each other during the production years of the CELESTION home.
The reference Greenback is the 25watts G12M Greenback. The others are confusing because of the green shell Greenback in the ass of the magnets.
To know them, they are all very good. Then it's a matter of choice. Always pay attention to DB dynamics. In effect from 97 to 100 db, the difference may be considerable if combined with other models like Vintage 30, G12T75 or Century.

It does not get any better!

Lefty Blues, 09.02.2014
I have two of these speakers installed in a fairly violently modified Marshall Vintage Modern 2266 combo (screen choke additionally, TAD Mustard Caps, Kiwame resistors and some other changes towards JTM45). The factory-installed Marshall Celestion G12C speakers are not bad, but with these Heritage G12H 75Hz, I'm already in a non-played state the spit away.
My Gibson Les Paul '56 VOS with Throbak P90 sounds almost three-dimensional and transparent. The same applies to Les Pauls with humbuckers and Fender Strats with single coils. All the details of different guitars and pickups are clearly audible. The same applies to booster or overdrive pedals, all of which are very well tolerated by the speaker and whose different characteristics come out in a clearness that I have not previously known.
All frequency ranges are perfectly matched. The clean sound is transparent and warm, but never muddy. In the case of crunch, the speaker - as it is for a good Greenback - goes into the not too fat compression and in a very harmonious tangle, but retains its warm and transparent basic sound. Beaming is almost undetectable. With the right amp, the 2x12 fill the room. But he also sounds great in bedroom volume.
I also had the Heritage G12M, which I did not like. Its sound was too little transparent and too vintage. The Heritage G12H 55Hz, of which I still have a pair in a JVM205 combo, was my favorite, because it has almost all the good features of the 75Hz speakers. The decisive difference, however, with the 75Hz variant are clearer upper mids, which are not obtrusive and obtrusive in contrast to the Heritage G12M and therefore do the marshalls, which are usually more frequent in this frequency range. In the band structure, this ensures the right place in the frequency pattern. How will these speakers be heard when they are properly recorded?
I just can not find any Macke on this speaker, except that it has been built only recently. But better late than never. That is why I bow respectfully towards Celestion!

UPDATE:

I use this speaker currently in combination with a Celestion G12H-55 15 ohms in parallel wiring in a 2x12-box. For a very British vintage sound this combination is really great!
