Clear purchase recommendation!

Before I landed with the A-800 Pro, I have say 7! Other keyboards ordered from various music stores and unfortunately also have to send them back again. Also included were M-Audio, Novation, CME ...

Rarely have I seen such a lot of material or processing errors. Since clipped or jammed keys, buzzed screws in the case around, keys did not give certain volumes again, etc. And that of manufacturers, which stand for good quality!

So I ended up at the Cakewalk A-800 Pro and am thrilled! The keyboard is a very good, easy-to-play synthesizer keyboard, whose response characteristics can be adapted to your individual playing habits with various stop curves. And please: If you want to play a keyboard that plays like a piano, you should also buy one and not push the keyboard manufacturers to give us such grottenschlechte pseudo-keyboard, like the M-Audio Keystation ....

The A-800 Pro convinces in every respect. In addition to the keyboard, it features high-quality faders and rotary knobs. They are rubberized and lie very well in the hand. The programmability is very clear, thanks to the included software: especially every knob, rotary knob or slider can be programmed with every conceivable function. I use the Cubase 5 keyboard completely remote.

The template provided for this was a bit unimaginative, but I got it after a short training without problems to adjust it to my needs. Software tools are opened at the push of a button from the A-800, the mixing console, of course, to switch between tracks, muten, solo, pan, editor, undo, erase etc.

The included driver runs under Vista and Win7 absolutely reliable without any hanger. I have experienced the other brands differently .......

Despite its very stable construction, the A-800 Pro is a flyweight. Approx. 4.5 kg make every gig for a walk ;-)

Finally, the Cakewalk comes with a very comprehensive software program that is unbeatable in its quality. Superb sounds and sequencer software deliver everything you need to get started.

The only thing I miss on the keyboard are a few more keys. The same unit with 88 keys without hammers would be a dream.

If you are looking for a well-processed masterkeyboard with many features for the live studio day, the A-800 Pro is best-served. Clear purchase recommendation!

I would buy again.

Since I have the A800 Pro, I know how spongy and rattling is the keyboard of my old Oxygen8 (1st Gen.) keyboards from M-Audio. The Cakewalk is very pleasant and precise. Overall, the keyboard makes a very good impression. It is light, nevertheless stable and in addition still high-quality processed.

The detection in FL-Studio runs smoothly, it is integrated into the DAW as a preset. With the function keys you can control Fruityloops easily via the keyboard and does not always have to press "Record", "Undo" etc. in the software by mouse.
The endless selection control is an endless encoder in the "ACT mode" in FL-Studio, with which you can set much finer midi values ??than the coarse 127. (To do this, you have to set Formula-Settings> for example, Increment 4x smaler in FL-Studio.)

What could be a little better solved: I have rather small hands, but I find the distance of the rotary control could be a small bit bigger nevertheless. Otherwise, all 9 rotary knobs and faders have a pleasantly grippy and robust feel with a pleasant resistance.
Nice: You can also suppress the CC-Midi values ??for a while, if you want to move a control / fader approximately to the value indicated by the software, which would normally be forced by the control movement on the keyboard but normally inevitably.

The drumpads do not react as well to the more sensitive Velocity values, but in the rhythmic "reinkloppen" of a beats they still make fun or at least a desire for a better pad. (Alternatively, bring Korg nanoPad or the little one from Akai.)
Unfortunately, the addressing of the pads has not been so successful: in the software editor you have to assign the note numbers (eg "34" instead of simply readable value such as "C3"). This should be simplified with an update. I would also have liked that you can assign the pads to the hardware comfortably by learning the midi notes. Or just like the Korg padControl. There you can assign on-the-fly the note values ??by means of rotary control to the pads. As far as I have understood so far, this is so easy with Cakewalks A series unfortunately does not.

The combined module pitch bend joystick is by the way a great thing, as I think. If you need a "normal" modulation wheel, you can also occupy one of the nine faders with it.

The "A-800 Pro" from the hardware is a very good playable, high-quality master keyboard with a very good price / performance ratio, Performance ratio.
