THE Loop Daddy!
Hrks, 25.04.2020
If you want a high quality looper that can double as an Audio Interface - look no further!

PRO'S:

- Great physical interface, great ergonomic feel and visual impact
- Very easy to use, record and play with
- natural WORKFLOW - creators and composers know how important it is.
- 2 FX sections (About 40 various effects for voice and INSTRUMENTS) - INPUT and TRACK - both "global" and "per track" versions
- Many other global / per track customizable FEATURES
- AUDIO quality - Initially was worried about 16 bit/44 khz -wanted something around 24/96 - but no worries! - the recorded sound is strong and punchy, there's plenty of output gain and headroom to work with on the tracks and on the final mix!
- Various INPUTS

CON'S:

- Menu diving - but this is to be expected on a small screen. This is just for visibility mind you. The controls and response are very good, and the whole experience keeps being less annoying over time.
- Foot control - "Could" be a problem. Even with a FS-6 footswitch i still don't feel too comfortable to use it while looping. The firmware confuses pedal 1 for pedal 2 and vice versa so you have to sort that out in the menu but it's not a that big deal. Really hope they update this and also throw in an "arm dedicatet track" selector for footswitch operation.
- The enclosure and sliders - This isn't your everyday's plastic. It's HARDER than most plastic materials out there and light at the same time, BUT I'm not sure if a fall from the desk could damage it. Better take care of it.

Well, that's really all folks!

I use my 505 to layer ambient tracks into song ideas (1- drum machine, 2 - synth bass, or guitar to bass fx 3 - pads, guitar fills 4 -vocals, 5 - more vocals, lead piano, chorus etc. )

SO - If you want to step up your loop game - don't look any further. At this price point there hardly anything better out there. At least I think - I've tried almost all of them! Cheers and have fun!

Amazing Toy
FluffyPuff, 15.12.2018
Right out of the box the RC-505 felt surprisingly like a poor quality device. Cheap plastic housing and sketchy faders were definitely a big turn off at first, but I still decided to keep it due to the vast array of easy to learn features which are just absolutely amazing.
I loved how fast I was able to put down my ideas with nearly endless combinations of effects without limitations in loop length and addable overdub layers. It was awesome how easily I could just let my inspiration flow intuitively without using a computer, which is very important for me creatively. Well, now 5 years of heavy use have passed and my loopstation is pretty much useless with one broken fader, 3 input FX buttons dont respond anymore and worst of all the internal amp has grown very noisy to a point where I cant use it for my live performances anymore. The mic and inst gain knobs (tried to clean them) make loud popping noises that make me fear for my speaker every time I touch them. Overall I still think the investment was worth it, I dont think that it ever was suitable for serious studio use but I also haven't seen anything as flexible as this from similar products. I travelled around the world with this thing and had a great time jamming with various artists. Hopefully the next modell will be more heavy duty like the rc-300.

Really nice product!!
zokiDkizo, 31.01.2020
I cannot say anything negative for this nice looper. I am using it with my Korg Krome and MicroKorg keyboards and hand-touch loop station is just perfect for me because I can have all off this at one table together and also for playing outside, live private party, on stands. Finnaly I can record faster my ideas than on mobile phone recorder "track by track". When the idea hits you, it's going away fast so this looper make you faster. That was the 1st reason why I have bought it. The rest is just plus, plus and plus. Thank you very much people from Thomann, will keep ordering from you.
Stay cool and have fun!!

Perfect, but impossible to sync with FL
Ottavio, 30.01.2018
I tried in every possible manner to sync the BOSS RC-505 (slave) with my DAW software, but with no results. After 3 minutes or 4 (depending on the bpm you set up) you can hear that the BOSS RC-505 gets slightly faster off tempo, and of course, the more you let it go, the more you hear the sync problem.

I didn't have any other problem beside this, the product works perfect and does what it promises to do. I had no problem looping on my own but for a price this big, having an issue with external synchronization means it's a little bit off price.

TLDR:
If you are planning to go solo, go for it, but if you are planning to do jam sessions with it and syncing with external software , you better go for another product.
