Blue Snowball Review
Maddogg Marr 06.11.2013
I purchased this mic for my son as he likes to post You-tube videos and online reviews and do some pod-casting. Up until now he had been using an old Behringer mixing desk of mine with and old Shure SM58 on a regular mic stand, just to connect to a PC.
So imagine his delight when all of this gear was reduced down to a mic the size of a tennis ball ( well..maybe slightly larger than a tennis ball)

The previous set-up always introduced some ground hum into the signal, so the first thing we noticed was how quiet this mic was. There was no background noise at all and the signal quality was crystal clear.

The beauty of this mic is, it is 100% "plug and play". It works immediately upon connection to a USB port (Cable supplied) and installs its own driver automatically.
We installed on to a Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit system with no issues, as I read somewhere that earlier versions of this mic had problems with Windows 7.

The mini tripod stand included is of very good quality. It feels very robust and is very easily adjustable.

The Blue Snowball has three polar patterns but we will mainly be using the Cardoid setting. The optimal distance from the mic for speech ( in our opinion ) is between 12 and 18 inches and Windows Mic volume set to 60, and at this distance it picked virtually no room noise and the audio was perfect.

I have no hesitation recommending this mic to any one. It is great value for money, Very high build quality and exceptional sound quality.

Very nice microphone!

Very nice microphone for the money!..I think its not so good as rode nt1-a but its fair deal it has very nice mellow tone for voice..Its specially for voice-overs.It has three options depends of your voice..I would recomend it in everyone make videos on youtube and specially tutorials. It can be used in any home studio with the stand that is coming with it. Its very stable and solid for this microphone..I would say the microphone has enough weight .It seems very stable microphone that last for very long time without problems..You just connect it in usb and you have a really great condenser microphone that you can you can use where ever you want..It come in very nice packet from thomann. i compared it with the rode nt1-a ..The only difference is that this micorphone is more thin than rode nt1-a..But this doesnt matter cause you can fix that with little eq compressor and reverb..In my akg 271 mk2 it sound very nice and clear without overpowering the bass notes of this microphone..i am really satisfied from this product and definetelly i would buy this again!
