Wonderful sound at very good price-performance ratio

I have met with this snare a small dream.
So I always wanted to have a concert snare, with at least triple take off.
At several concerts I could already play on Snares from Pearls Philharmonic series and was already there and away from the dynamic ranges and the sound.

Since the money is now a bit scarce, I have looked for a cheap alternative with very little smearings, and I stayed with the Bergerault Snare.

The processing is top: burrs, snare bed, kettle diameter everything at the highest level.
One should change Thomann at this point: the snare is not delivered with an Evans Strata 1000 but with a NoName fur, which still feels quite thick. So order a 1000 or 700er also.
The mechanics feel robust and valuable and can be operated very quietly and precisely.

The tuning of the snare is very easy and fast from the hand - all screws run easily through the threads and with the 10 tension points each one has jerk the skins in their own right. (For me Schlagfell B, Resofell F).

Now adjust the strings correctly:
I usually start with the stronger, jacketed (here black) strings for all loud dynamics and then work me down to the ppp.
Thanks to the mechanics which can be adjusted on both sides, one achieves a very good skin contact over the entire length.

For every (orchestral) drummer who needs a bit of money, I can definitely recommend this snare. Surely the snares from 1000EUR still put on (again full, voluminous), however one can use with this drum very much very well. (And she also looks fancy!)

Clear purchase recommendation!

A fine instrument

To tell you in advance: Whoever needs a snaredrum only for his backbeats, does not necessarily need this drum. And for my jazz gigs I have my Gretsch and Slingerland snares. The Bergerault Custom Elite is a concert drum, as used by the orchestra drummer. You could theoretically do all that other snaredrums can; But it has specific talents as intended.

Aesthetically and functionally this drum is lovingly thought out, designed and processed. Bearing edges and snare bed are designed on the factory side so that I did not have to work them out. If the speech of a "Bubinga finish" is, I am not sure whether the whole boiler really also made of pure Bubinga wood; At any rate, the kettle sings with the snares set down, with a soft, full sound, probably also because of the castings.
Despite these castings the drum can be tuned well with its ten tube lugs. The mass of the metal fittings, however, brings with it a lot of weight.

The instrument delivered to me was not equipped with Evans Strata 1000 skins as described, but with no-name skins. The flip had a similar coating to coated Remo skins, and I immediately replaced it with a Remo Renaissance fur because it was more sensitive and because a rough coating would ruin the heads of my expensive concert sticks in the long run.

The special thing about a concert snaredrum like this is of course the snare detachment, with which three different narrow string sets can be switched on and off and regulated in different combinations and voltages, individually and on both sides. These mini-carpets protrude beyond the snare fur surface in this drum, so that their response is still ensured in the edge area. An additional guide bracket saves the snares on the drum edge and ensures the correct angle. The throw-off is easy and reliable.

While a narrow spiral rug of today's type is supplied, only "cables" and steel bands are mounted, all of which produce a much matte but warmer and more unobtrusive sound than the usual spiral rugs and approach the character of classical bowel strings.

The drum is in my estimation priced almost double the double. I can not discover the slightest lack. And it feels good to play an orchestral drum from a European manufactory? From the country with probably the longest occidental snaredrum tradition, France; Even if the company Bergerault is famous especially for its staff games.
