Great crisp noise-free sound
KBartol 03.01.2021
I bought those Bartolini pups because I wasn't satisfied with my preinstalled stock pickups on my Fender J-bass Geddy Lee signature. Original pickups had very muddy and overall non-distinctive sound. What frustrated me the most is that the bass picked up so many other signals and it was pretty much unusable bass for studio recording.
I bought Bartolini pickups, rewired and regrounded whole bass and sound is now phenomenal - I get almost 0 noise when playing bass, sound is defined and clear - you can get that crisp tone if you slap and on the other hand you can get very nice Jaco sound from it. Bridge pickup provides very "growly" sound.
Pros:
- Very nice sound
- Almost 0 noise
Minor con:
- Signal coming out of these pups is relatively low. I corrected that with MXR's preamp.

I am satisfied with these pickups and are worth of its money. I would definitely reccommend it to other players.

Very good!

Fantastic pickups. Powerful despite being passive. Very nice tone to them. Warm yet powerful. Great growl to them when you start digging in a little. I use them on a fret less bass and the slides are very nice a warm.

M
A great choice for hum-canceling pick-ups
MartJ 08.03.2023
I bought the Bartolini pickups for two reasons.

The first reason was I wanted a pair of hum canceling pick-ups for my Jazz Bass as the pick-ups it had before were very noisey. The Bartolini set absolutely delivered what they promised. They are dead quiet. There's no single coil hum and they are even super quiet in enviroments where normal pick-ups would pick up a lot of extra noise.

The second reason was the Bartolini sound. I wanted my fretless bass to sound as smooth and warm as possible and thought that the Bartolini pick-ups would be the perfect match with some LaBella flatwounds strings. They really delivered here. The pick-ups also gave the bass a nice amount of low end. With the neck pick-up - combined with the strings and the bass being fretless - I can almost get a double bass-y sound. The bridge pick-up has a more traditional Jazz Bass sound and has a nice punch. They really record well and also sit nice in a band mix.

The only thing to be aware of is that pick-ups have a rather low output. I currently boost the output through a pre-amp. The pick-ups are so quiet that they don't add noise, but depending on your pedals and power supply they might add a bit of noise to the mix.

In conclusion:

Pros:
No hum!
Really nice and warm sound

Cons:
Rather low output

I would definitely buy another pair of Bartolini pick-ups for another Jazz Bass. I also think the pick-ups look really nice on the bass due to the design. All in all I highly recommend the pick-ups!

Great pickups with a wide variety of tones, great mids especially low mids, expensive but well worth the money.
