Size isn't everything!
Ollie E., 02.10.2015
Although the size of the Microbrute might deceive you into thinking it's some kind of toy, well I can tell you that it is far from it! It is one of the most versatile mono-synths that I have seen, and especially considering what you pay for it.
It's small size makes it better in a couple of ways. First being it is easy to transport, it can fit in a rucksack and away you go. Second, you don't expect to hear such a big, and at times wild, sounds to come from something so small. Yes, it is only one oscillator but the fact you can stack the different waveforms on top of each other and then the addition of the sub-oscillator results in some truly staggering sounds. It is capable of producing Vangelis 'Blade Runner' type pads right through to gnarly, aggressive leads and bass.
I can't sing praises enough for this little synth. It sits right next to my Minimoog Model D and it doesn't seem out of place. It'll probably be the best money you'll spend.

A really great first synthesizer!
TRF, 26.11.2014
I've been looking for my first hardwares synthesizer to be able to make music independently from the computer and also have a device, which makes the music more tangible. Before purchasing this device, I have thought about it for a long time and in detail, and also let me consult in a large forum. Ultimately, despite a much lower budget, I decided to buy the Microbrute and I did not regret it.

The Microbrute combines several features that stand out from all other synthesizers. Particularly praiseworthy is that the Microbrute really has in many ways more than other devices in similar or higher price class. Therefore I came as a beginner with low budget around this device!

Most importantly to me is that it actually has for each Soundermaking function its own regulator or switch. So you can quickly and directly screw. This point should not be underestimated. Only when playing on the sounds is fun and not cumbersome is one really also the full potential of the device really enjoy.

In addition, the microbrute also has a (simple) keyboard and even a 64 step sequencer with easy operation. So you can run the microbrute times without computer and accessories. Especially the keyboard is very important for me as a beginner. As icing on top is the fact that the Microbrute despite all the features at the low price is still analog.

I've been playing the Microbrute for several hours. The controls load correctly to simply enter something into the sequencer and then modify the sounds by playing on the filters. With something like that I can spend several hours at a time. But also the playing of the keys has its charm. Even if they are a bit small, they can be played quite well.

The sounds are just great. And the microbrute unfolds its full potential only when one halfway knows what the individual controllers do. In particular, the cutoff and the Env. Office, the Keyb. Tracking and the LFOs to be patched must be kept in mind, as they can turn the cutoff too far or turn it up fully if the settings are incorrect, thus depriving the actual cutoff control of its function, which can lead to a limited sound diversity if the setting error is not detected.

I also have to grin while playing with the Microbrute. There are really really strong sounds possible. Also certain good sounding overrides can be achieved without problems. The possibilities of this small device are really enormous.

Who like me like to stretch the limits of the possibilities can create with the skill and utilization of the self oscillation of the filter (brutefactor and resonance) deep sound combinations, which especially when using the sequencer really good results deliver. If you do it right, you do not believe that this melody was played in a single monophonic synthesizer. It is also possible to produce very nice sounding oscillations between the resonance of the filter and the normal oscillator sound.

All in all, the Microbrute is a device, which really invites to play but also needs to be really played to get good results. If you, like me, like to deal with the sound of sounds, this device will be a pleasure.

I will not give this device again!
