I've been using synergy core for little more than a month and so far everything worked flawlessly including their customer service too ...

After quite a lot of exploring and researching I was between UAD's apollo and this little beast , I honestly think that antelope is one the biggest real competitors to uad when it comes to quality/value/price offer , the thing is that uad has been much longer in the game , trusted by thousands (for a reason) , so probably that's why they still on the top of the game and will be for a while, but antelope is right behind ...

I had a chance to work and record with both , apollo and synergy core , didn't get a chance to compare them back to back yet but i can def say that the plug ins , conversion , and general workflow are equally good and easy from what i can feel and remember , so i will write this review in that light ....

sound/conversion quality : I just love how open and pristine they sound, it feels like the details come out more , like that 3D picture and depth engineers work hard for actually comes through , I had the same feeling with apollo.. the only little difference is that apollo converters sound tad bit warmer , or in other words synergy sounds a little more clear... now , that might and might not be a good thing , in some situations you actually want that pristine clarity synergy core offers , in some other you might want little more of that warmth uad is known for .... however , given the price difference , i gotta say , I dont regret a single penny when it comes to sound quality of synergy core ...

plug ins and DSP : ok , so I mean , there are tons of plug ins antelope offers , some of them are included some of them you can buy later some of them you get to choose as a gift ... from what I tried , they all sounded great, clear and they do what it says they should ... i am not gonna go into compering them to any other plugin manufacture company as that's pointless , it's all about ears and the track...let's just say that 2 fairchilds or 2 neves or any 2 of vintage equipment outboards dont sound exactly the same so why would 2 plug ins ... all I can say is that they sound great and I would use them as well as i would any other plug in I like and know well and that includes waves , fabfilter, softube, soundtoys and so on .. One I'm really impressed by is Impresser (distressor) ... kicking ass plug in ... it is a shame you can not use them inside your DAW without their bridge plugin that you have to pay for, but again , you can't have it all ,right ? .. they already giving you pretty good deal for the price ...

I/O : i personally find all i need for what i use synergy core with 4 inputs and 6 outputs plus ability to expand whenever you need ... and honestly that was the biggest selling point for me .. i mix hybrid and i record hybrid and i personally believe that's the present and future of audio recording and mixing so I def think antelope is heading towards the top of the game with their products ...

for the end , gotta say that after working with interfaces like focusrite , presonus , motu , apogee ... i def consider this an upgrade in quality and versatility ...

Unique interface
Pofa, 21.08.2019
I have chosen this interface overall for three features that I have not found all together in the same price range:
1- the 4 headphone out with 4 different mixes (very easy to do),
2- the DSP+FPGA models,
3- the Thunderbolt and USB connection.

At the moment I cannot make A/B tests with my other interfaces (an old but still good RME400 and a Focusrite Clarett Thunderbolt, both great for different reasons) but I read some serious reviews with scientific measurement that put the interface between the best products (in its price range of course).
With the DSP+FPGA models I can prepare, save and recall 4 channel strips for the headphones without latency and without bothering the CPU of the Mac.
I use it just for monitoring while at mix I can use all my plugins, but also the DSP+FPGA of the Antelope, thanks to the AFX2DAW plugin that in Pro Tools allows to use and see the Discrete4 as an external hardware, seeing all plugins in the insert list.
Few days after my business the price of the Discrete4 has dropped down and with more plugins. Antelope contacted me in order to give me for free the plugins of the new offer. This was nice and appreciated.
The performance of the interface is good. The drivers and control panel are good too, while sometimes a little bit complicated but probably is the “learning curve”.
The output power of both headphones and monitor out is good but not so abundant compared to the “High Level” of the RME. Also the way the loudness increase could be better, on the Focusrite is perfect having at 12H always the perfect loudness limit for the normal use, while on the Antelope there is a big increase on the last quarter form 3 to max.
I don't know if it's possible via driver/firmare update to implement more output levels and to change the way the volume control reacts.

Said that the Discrete4 with his actual offer, price and unique features is, in my opinion, hard to beat at the moment.

MASSIVE IMPROVEMENT!!!
madmofo, 12.01.2021
After tying out a number of audio interfaces from various manufacturers, including UAD, RME, MOTU, and Focusrite, I was blown away by the crisp sound quality of this Antelope Discrete 4 SC.

After long years of using Native Instruments' Komplete Audio 6, I finally decided to upgrade and came across this audio interface. At first, I was skeptical about this whole "premium audio interface" thing, but I saw Antelope was doing a special promotion (Free Edge Solo mic, BitWig, and some great effects!) and decided to pull the trigger.

Since I received it, I've been recording vocals, guitars, bass, synth and various other things with it, and the results have been amazing! Komplete Audio is by no means a poor audio interface, but this thing is at a whole another level in terms of sound quality and accuracy. Being able to apply various effects, preamps and EQs to your input source without consuming the CPU of your computer is a HUGE plus. On top of all that, this thing made not only the input signal but the output signal incomparably beautiful.

Definitely recommend this. Oh, you should get the 8 version if you record drums, etc. I don't, so 4 inputs are more than enough!

Simply amazing!
TheFunkyNerd, 24.01.2021
The quality of the converters is out of this world. Commit no mistake, this is audiophile level sound quality, rivaling my Chord Hugo 2 in terms of separation, width and depth, it's incredible. If you are serious about your mixing and mastering, you need this. Preamps are very good, but Zen Tour can capture a bit more detail. All in all I'm in love with the Discrete 4 Synergy Core, so small and so powerful.
