Very positively surprised
drummingduck, 20.06.2016
I got a 17 "and 19" Zultan Crash Dark Matter. Before, I had Meinl Byzance Dark in 16 "and 18". The Byzance 16 "tore me after 2.5 years, so I was looking for a replacement pool for it.

Design:
The Zultan cymbals look even more classy in the original than on the product photos at Thomann. They are relatively dark and the bronze shimmers evenly. After the first unpacking I had black fingers. They were probably sent after completion without cleaning :-)

sound:
The cymbals have a fast response and sound nice "dark" like the Byzance, but the overtones are not as cut off as in the Meinl. In addition, the Zultan sound longer without being obtrusive. I like the sound of the Zultans better than the sound of the Byzance Basin. They just sound more like "cymbals". Of course it may be that I've just been fed up with the Byzance sound.

Processing:
The pelvic suspension holes are not round and throw a burr on both pools. That's the only thing that bothers me about the pools.

Actually, I just wanted to replace my 16 "Byzance, I liked the 17" and 19 "in your combination so well that I kept both tanks at once.
To this day I played 6 gigs with the Zultan Dark Matter and I'm still excited about the cymbals. It probably was not? I have new pelvis? Euphoria. The "price / sound" ratio is unbeatable. The big question mark is the life of the pelvis. I'm curious how long they last.
I play in a pop / rock cover band with about 50 gigs a year.

edit:
February 2017:
About 8 months after the purchase of the pelvis and about 30 played gigs, both pelvis tore almost at the same time. The 17 "pool tore in the direction of rotation right at the top of the hill, the 19" also in the direction of rotation about 3cm from the edge away. Both pools were exchanged without any problems by the Thomann service. Thanks for that.

I'm curious how long the "new" pools hold. I would classify myself as a medium to hard-playing drummer and cut the pelvis when hitting, so that the pelvis can "turn away".

October 2017:
8 months after swap of the 19 "pelvis, the pelvis ripped away again along the fiber about 4cm from the edge.

February 2018:
12 months after the exchange of the 17 "pelvis, the pelvis tore back along the fiber about 3cm from the edge. There are very fine hairline cracks that are barely visible to the naked eye.

The pools were exchanged without any problems by the Thomann service. Thank you for that.

Conclusion: Soundwise, the cymbals in my opinion play in the upper class, a longevity for the semi-professional drummer is unfortunately not given. For advanced drummers, who want well-sounding pelvis for a tight budget, these pelvis are very well-served.

Madness!
05.12.2016
... the first time I unpacked it, warned of previous reviews, vigorously scrubbed down with paper to remove the iron-3-chloride residues that cause filthy fingers. The patina was not affected.
I seem to have been lucky, because the middle hole was processed clean and has not thrown a burr.

Even the soft, but full gong, which the pelvis releases when hanging, gives a foretaste of the warmth of this pool.
It has a powerful drive and rushes pleasantly high with repeated stops, without becoming too sharp or pointed. An undertone is there, but warm and reserved (in contrast to the typical jazz pool).
I play in a progressive rock / metal band and lately get away from the typical sharp guitar cutting pool to the full, warm sound carpet.
The Paiste Alpha Rock Crash as a typical entry-level rock pool can pack in addition to the (cheaper!) Dark Matter and is sold. It is more assertive and clearly louder, but also has unpleasantly sharp overtones in comparison to the Dark Matter.
For durability, I can not say much, but will gradually replace the other pelvis of my set by pelvis of this series and update this review.
Sound technically I'm very happy and our sound engineer loves them, the room sound in the rehearsal room is tidier and the overall volume down.

Absolute recommendation!
