Easily the best portable recorder
Egle Matuzonyte, 23.01.2019
Absolutely love it.
Cannot think of any cons, as this has all the functions you would need in a portable recorder and more (you can even use this as a 2in/2out audio interface for your laptop).
Two great quality condenser mics, so I use them if i'm in a hurry. For more serious and planned out recordings I connect an external mic.
Great sound, great design, pleasant to hold in your hands, feels sturdy and comfortable, the GUI is easy to understand and intuitive (I haven't touched the manual yet).
I think it is a must have for every audio professional, hands down. I use it mostly for creating my own sample library, but I did make some great sounding vocal recordings. I'm starting to use it for vocals more and more, because rather than recording dry in the studio and later applying digital reverb, I can go on adventure and search for a perfect sonic ambience for my vocals. This changed and improved my approach to music producing.

The amazing Zoom H4n
Frango, 15.06.2018
I am totally delighted with this machine, which I bought on the recommendation of a voice-over tutor.
My total delight, may seem a bit strange, when considering the fact that I already have 2 Zoom H1s, which in themselves although quite old now are wonderful recorders.
So why did I bother to buy the H4n? Well, I really wanted a machine that can do multitrack recording.
I like to record myself singing the songs of Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Ella Fitzgerald etc; with a quality backing track. For this, the H4n is perfect.
There are also, many wonderful extras, such as compressor limiter, etc etc.
There are some niggles of course: it would have been nice to have an SD card supplied with the machine.
To use the machine to its full potential, is rather complicated, but definitely worth the effort.
I would have preferred the manual to have a larger font; however this is no problem really, as one can download a PDF of the manual, and make the font as big as you want.
Despite my various problems, I will repeat myself, by saying that I am totally delighted with the Zoom H4n Pro.

I also wish to thank Thomann customer services, as when I pointed out that the price I had been charged, seemed to be more than that advertised on the Internet, they immediately refunded the difference.

The multitracker is a great tool for musicians of all levels. It really can be a ‘studio in a box’ replacing many of the components of a traditional studio.
