Horsetail
Onkel Addi, 20.10.2009
The horsetail was only the "2nd choice" in your shop for the processing of my saxophone and oboe tubes. Since you have unfortunately no tube knives for oboe tubes in the range, I had decided. The horseshoes are worth the price, but their purpose is by no means better than other tools that I use now.

For the reworking of the pipes and sheets, I now have a real raw knife - so you can handle larger workings just as well (without damaging the heart) as fine remedies. For smoothing, I use very fine-grained wet sandpaper, as before the horsetail. I will not buy horsetail again.

Up to now I had used sandpaper and blades to repair and repair the reeds. The blades give you the precision but leave as a metallic sound and the sandpaper leave better sound but ..... are not at all precious when it comes to retouching and lowering in the exact place in the reed. The Zinner Schachtelhalme is like a combination of the sandpaper and the blade, since it does not leave the metallic sound that can leave the use of the blades but if they have the necessary precision to attack just in the necessary point. After many years of using sandpaper and blades I have switched to the Zinner Schachtelhalme.
