Now that's a desk
Freddy_McLennon 06.06.2020
I was really in the need for a decent music desk.
A desk that was sturdy, practical, future proof, looked good and not overly expensive.
And then I found the Zaor Miza 88 Black...
Good hight, a pull out keyboard tray with extra foldable leggs for stability, room for 4 rack units, a little drawer, ...
And now I have one and boy I am happy...
I can play my SL88Studio keyboard really forte, and with the leggs down, the tray is very solid.
I have room for my Komplete Audio 6 interface, my Behringer X tough One DAW controller, a Tablet, keyboard and mouse ... even a tablet.
And on top I have 2, 32" curved screens .
The build is really great but you should know...
It's a heavy desk, deliverd on a pallet, with 2 boxes on them.
Total weight of nearly 100kg. (packaging included.
The packaging is something I've never seen before.
Superb! (but be prepared for lots of packaging cardboard and other materials lol)
The installation of the desk was a handfull.
I advise to first read the manual and go over the parts.
And then start putting the desk together.
Don't rush in because you might regret it later lol.
I did it alone, but 2 people is better, especially for the final parts.
Ow, and it took me a good one and a half hour, building but not rushing things.
But once you have the desk build? I promise you ... awsome!
Also, if you don't plan on using racks immediately? Some Thon Rack Panels come in handy to cover up the empty rack units.
I bought 4 2U panels. So I have some flexibility in the future.
I'm very happy with the desk and after years of crappy desks, I can finally say: I have a real music desk!

A
Good value for money and excellent service

Packaging/Delivery
Arrived on a pallet with 2 boxes. Note: You need two people to carry!. Packaging is very very good. Heaviest box had carrying handles on each end.
All parts inside were very well protected.

Building
Assembled the desk on my own but you really need two people for the final stage.

All fixings were as expected and in re-sealable bags
System to put together uses a very simple set of fixings that are used for the whole build.

One or two of the pictures in the instructions were a little vague but generally much better than the usual flat-pack construction. All sections are numbered with stickers.

Tip: Dont't try and go it alone without the instructions as you will get in trouble and miss some fixing points.

Summary: Finish is great esp. the curved edge on the desktop. Colour is as per images. Materials are above average. Everything fits together well.

Improvements:
The cable tidy at the back is difficult to access and lay cables in. The depth of the desktop could have benefitted from an extra few centimetres. If you place a mat on the top you need to be careful the draw doesn't catch it on opening. Re: the fold down legs for the keyboard. When not used they have a tendency to catch my legs when my seat is at the correct height. Yes - I can put the legs down when the keyboard draw is closed but you then need to lift them to pull the drawer out. This is perhaps an area for improvement.

Thomann Service
Finally. having placed several orders now with Thomann I can strongly recommend them.

Overall - Quality, Cost and Delivery all good!

KU
Perfect for my home studio
Kosta UK 10.06.2020
Sturdy and elegant, perfect for an home studio setup.

I was able to build it alone, but I could have used an extra hand from a friend ... proceed slowly, read the instructions and you won't damage the desk.

It is a big guy, be sure you have enough space to fit it in.
The space underneath is gonna be huge, I used it to store my guitar amplifiers and I still can comfortably have my legs under the table without hitting the amps.

I confess, I am using the "pull out shelf" for the electric piano without opening the 2 legs to make it stable ... Well this is a bit risky and you shouldn't do it, but if you don't pull it completely and let just the keys get out from shelf, then I feel it is stable and it won't crack for the keyboard weight. Don't get me wrong, the 2 wood legs work perfectly and are very easy to open/close, I just usually prefer to save the extra space needed for a complete shelf opening.

Be aware, after you fill the racks with your devices it won't be that easy to move the desk around ... so make your cabling and test it before pushing it completely against a wall ... otherwise be ready for some heavy workouts :)
