Yanagisawa A-W01
Harald60, 16.01.2015
After 4 years Yamaha YAS 275 I decided to buy a more high-quality instrument. After some tests between different manufacturers, uA. Also Selmer, I wanted to choose between Yamaha and Yanagisawa. I then tested the Yamaha YAS 62, Yanagisawa A-W01, A-W02, A-W10 and A901 at Thomann.
All instruments are well processed. Slight differences were found in the sound, greater differences between manufacturers in ergonomics, haptics and finish. Regarding the haptics, the Yani program addressed me more.

- The Yani W01 has a wide sonorous sound with brilliant highs.
- The W02 sounds a bit warmer than the W01, looks great, costs more money and is not because of the warmer sound for me not so universally applicable. So it was out.
- The W10 is very solid and valuable processed, sounds not so open for me but more centered and pressed. Sure it is a great instrument, I like the sound is not quite as good, and it is the most expensive of all. Also that was then raus.

It has become the Yani A-W01 because of its universal usability, suitable intonation, great sound and the best price / performance ratio for me. The old Yani 901 I had also played, I decided for the W01 and am totally happy with it. The first few weeks were somewhat unusual compared to the usual Yamaha, because the side flaps are arranged narrower. But I quickly got used to the changed ergonomics. The high register is super easy to play without having to press.
I had heard something vibrate while playing. After a long search I found it. It was an Allen key of the radiator located 3m away. The generated sound has such an enormous resonance that it can vibrate the entire room with about 20 m2.
My setup: V. Optimum AL3, V. Optimum Ligatur, V. Java green.
