My main gripe with this instrument is the strap nut design which doubles in function to secure the upper detachable frame. The problem is that they constantly loosen due to the pulling of the strap, which wouldn't be such an issue only that the frame loosens as a result!!
The second problem I have with it is that you can't rest this instrument on your thigh without it slipping about too much.. --due to its lightness, which means you really have to have it hanging on a strap for it to feel good.
On the plus side it's a great sounding guitar. I probably wouldn't play it live but a great practise instrument to plug headphones into if you want to practise late at night without waking the baby!

BESTNOTE! A clear advance to SLG 130n ....

15.12.2015
The new SRT sound system brings the difference :-)
Bass strings and overtones like a "real" one!

The progress of this instrument to the predecessor "SLG130 nw" is not only heard clearly for the guitar-sound expert.

The new "SLG200 n" is also supported by bass strings, which have a clear "extra" volume, as well as an equally clear "more" of overtones, bring a discernible sound gain.

However, you must NOT use the original guitar strings.
After testing various sets of different manufacturers, I have now found the best sounding strings for this guitar in my opinion (sound examples see below):

BASS: D'ADDARIO PRO ARTE (HT)
DISCOUNT: HANNABACH GOLDIN CARBON (HT)

(Cheaply here at Thomann to get).

By using these strings m. E. the "Yamaha SLG200n" now practically no longer distinguish from a classical concert guitar in the price class up to approx. 1,500 ¤ (depending on the amplifier used).

The sound has clearly gained in volume, which is probably due to the SRT sound system.

The typical resonator effect of a guitars body has been surprisingly successful, especially when the bass strings are stopped. The sound is pure, clear and rich in volume.

By integrating the SRT effect - in my experience, a value of 40-70% is optimal - the stop sound heard with pure piezo pickup is too much in the vicinity of the guitar bridge ("plock-plock") Minimized.

An effect less than the SLG 130nw is not missing.
I use - for my mostly classical guitar playing - anyway mostly the "Reverb 2", TOP suitable and very well dosable, depending on the character of the piece of music.

For sound recording / recording, it is recommended to set the bass to minimum, and the treble to maximum. For reasons that I can not understand, the recorded sound will be quite bass-heavy and to my astonishment. Possibly, this also depends only on my recording device.

Otherwise, both controls are set to "neutral" for me, the fine tuning of the sound control is performed on the amplifier used. And these settings vary depending on the device you are using.

In my opinion, the "Yamaha SLG 200n" is a very good choice for the ambitious classical guitar player, and not only if you need a perfect concert guitar sound without feedback on the stage ...

My recommendation!

English version
(For the english speaking customers of Thomann):

The progress of the "Yamaha SLG200n" to its predecessor "SLG130 nw" is well heard.

This is the first time I've ever heard of "SLG200 n", "I've been a bass player for a long time." More "in volume, and an equally clear" more "overtones (Flageolett), a recognizable better sound profile ....

But ... DO NOT play with the original strings delivered. I've seen a lot of different parts. The original strings which are from Yamaha, IMO, surely are not really usable, at least on this guitar, sorry .....

After several tries I found the perfect matching strings for this piezo-electronic guitar

Bass: D'Addario pro Arte (HT)
Treble: Hannabach Goldin Carbon (HT)

(Available here at Thomann, too)

Therefor, with this strings, the "Yamaha SLG200n", IMO, is practically indistinguishable from a classical concert guitar in the class up to ¤ 1,500 (depending on the used amplifier).

The SRT-sound system is the most powerful sound in the world, and the sound of the sound is so great.

The sound is pure, clear and rich in volume by admixing the SRT-effect - in my experience, a value of 40-70% is going to be optimal And playing near the guitar bridge ("plock-plock").

When recording, IMO it is advisable to put the bass on minimum and the heights to maximum, for unknown reasons. But this is the only thing I can do.

By playing "normal" via amplifier, both controllers are best set to "neutral", the fine tuning of the tone control is performed on the amplifier used.

In my opinion, the "Yamaha SLG 200N", for the ambitious classical guitar player, is a very good choice, not only without any disturbing feedback on stage, but indeed, if a flawless classical guitar sound is needed ....

My recommendation!
