A
MODX 8 - Awesome!
AdrianF.Cioara 18.03.2019
This keyboard is awesome! The design looks gorgeous, but what's more amazing is the sound. I really appreciate the details from the sounds inside, especially the CFX Piano. But also the arpeggiators and performances really gives you the 80s synths feeling.

The rhythm function included is very useful. You can now add percussion to your performance and control it in real time. Also, the USB audio interface that is built in works excellent - you can monitor out directly from the keyboard so you can enjoy recording without worrying about latencies. the Cubase AI 10 license included gives you access to a very cool and fast, though complex, recording system.

The keys feel nice, though you can notice that the MODX is a cheaper version of the flagship. After a few days of normal use, some keys started to click - making a plastic sound. It does not affect the sound of the keyboard, but it's annoying provided the fact that you bought the item as new. (Later edit: I've sent the keyboard back to Thomann's service and they fixed the issue very fast. Cheers to the team!)

I highly recommend this product for semi-pro users that want portability and are on a lower budget. It's perfect for gigs or studio recording.

Mind Blowing MODX8
pedalako 01.11.2021
For me, I had to get the 8 because after playing for10+ years on both a "synth action" keyboard and an acoustic grand piano, I've found that the weighted keybed just feels more satisfying, and it makes me play better because slight touches of the wrong note by my sloppy fingers don't trigger the adjacent sound as readily. I would have probably gotten a 6 or 7 for the portability if Yamaha offered a 6H/7H (with the hammer weighted action), but I have to say, I do actually enjoy having the extra octave or two

A premium instrument with a mid-level price tag.
Jotzeph 09.07.2019
I'm blown away by how good this synthesizer is. Right off the bat, it has some of the best acoustic and electric piano sounds on the market. The rest of the patches are also great of course. However the sampling and synthesis methods on it make it possible to get the craziest or most authentic sounds imaginable. On-board effects are stellar. Build feels sturdy and high quality, in spite of being plastic.

My only problem is that upon arrival, a group of key notes were not working, but I got it immediately fixed at the local Yamaha dealer.
